We beat the refs

Agreed. They showed maybe a total of 3 replays. They must’ve also had a drunk intern operating down and distance.

It would go from 2nd & 8 to 4th & 6 on a 6 yard play and wouldn’t change until the ball was snapped.
The down and distance has been so bad that I consistently just follow the markers on the field and guesstimate.

And not just A&M. They were giving them every chance possible to stay in the game. I had an actual A&M fan and a neutral Michigan fan both tell me that calling was redic, so it’s far from just orange and green shades. So many obviously missed calls, some terrible calls, and at least one crucial PI that we almost didn’t get.

Mentioned this in the game thread but one of you guys with vid chops should absolutely make a vid compiling every single one of these missed or terrible calls. We can spam it on social media, and start putting consistent pressure on officiating. Video should end by thanking and crediting all the refs by name and face.

It’s 2023, we have high definition replays available instantly from every angle, AI that can process video, etc. There’s no reason officiating should be this subject to obvious bias and human error. Fans need to start demanding more accountability.
They missed several calls for their side too. Watched highlights and saw 2 obvious ones. When Colie ran across middle and caught pass for big yac play, there was an obvious pick on us. And one of George’s tds he clearly threw the cb down

No calls went both ways. No targeting on JW. They didn't take away any of our scores that are typically game killers. I'll take it how it played out.
There was no targeting from JW lol. Not even close. The unsportsmanlike or roughing the passer penalty he got that play was even BS. He was a step away from the QB when he slung the ball. What else was he supposed to do in that situation?

Where was the hold? On who? Just curious. It's funny you post this because during the game when Brashard broke into the open I was expecting a flag. When he crossed the goal line I was still expecting a late flag but nothing. It's so common to see a flag on a kick return that it's just expected now and when we didn't get flagged on the return I said to myself how strange that was to have a clean kick return TD. Now I'm reading your post and I'm thinking that the fact that we did indeed hold and the refs missed it is very ironic but I'll take it all day every day.

It's not close to horrible but there are a few tweaks they can make to make the experience better.

The lack of replays is at the top of my list.

Go to the Swamp or Doak and you'll come back to HRS with a renewed appreciation.
It is very corporate to me. Seems like a pro game set up. Doak experience way better at this point. I hate Gainesville it's just loud. We need to take control of the experience. It seems like the fins are running it.

There was one particular play where we definitely caught a break from the refs, it was the beginning of the 2nd quarter (about 12:30 in the clock), 3rd and 6. #84 (Mccormick?) sets an extremely obvious pick that helped Young pick up a huge first down. 84 had basically stopped running then stepped to his right and stuck out his hip to disrupt the defender covering Young. One of the announcers noticed it and said "it was an incidental pick" but it was not particularly subtle.

TAMU was setting picks all day too so it went both ways, but if they'd thrown the flag on that 3rd down, we'd have been in big trouble as TAMU had just gone up 17-7 and had all the momentum. On balance the refs definitely helped TAMU more than UM as they also called some ticky tack PI that they didn't call on TAMU, but IMO we've been screwed much worse by refs in a lot of other games.
Well a 45 year old TE knows just how to do that unnoticed

The roughing the passer on Wesley was a terrible call but didn't matter since he threw a TD anyway. But that was the worst call of the game. JW targeting could have stood. Glad they picked it up because receiver turned into it. But he did hit him in the helmet.

Scoreboard guy was miserable.

No way was JW's hit either targeting or a personal foul. It was just like Jaquan Johnson's targeting that they overturned a few years ago. He led with his shoulder. The call on Wesley was a joke.

There was MASSIVE HOLD (aka tackle to the ground) by UM almost at the beginning of the kick return for TD ... so let's not complain too much!
For every one missed on us there were 3 missed on them. It wasn't even close to how many more bad calls went their way. It was pathetic.

I counted 4 false starts an 2 delay of game penalty's that weren't called. It was not a good night for the refs who tried all they could to get A&M back in the game.

SEC refs was doing exactly what they are paid to do when playing outside the conference.. I wasn’t surprise one bit..

Wish ACC sorry *** refs would take notes.
ACC officials have always been terrible for us. A question. Which conference controlled the replay booth? Seems like I remember the on field crew was one, while the replay booth was the other. I could be wrong, though.

While they seemed to miss more calls on A&M, the game also had a feel of "just let them play the game".

That’s ok because that made up for the pick play they set up on us for their first TD.
