we back??

I personally have little sympathy for someone who assaults an officer by swinging at them.

They must know there are consequences for their behavior.

"Assault" "swinging" WTF are you watching. It's a girl's drunk slaps vs. a 250lb beast punching her with a closed fist. That's ok with you?
You are not allowed to touch an officer let alone slapping them.
That is assault in most states and considered a felony.

Ok, then let the judge decide that. You don't punch the girl in the face.

As I said in my post I have little sympathy for someone who assaults an officer.

Citizens shouldn’t swing at officers, but let’s look at the context:

Extremely drunk woman
Several male officers
Inappropriate restraint (She should have been cuffed and walked out)
Assault by woman caused no injury to officer
Officer responded with unequal force

Can we stop being so 100/0 about blame? This woman likely deserved to be arrested, but the police officers would have been prudent to cuff her and walk her up instead of grabbing her person and hoisting her up like a crowd surfer. While still inappropriate, the woman was justified to protect her body from a group of male cops, and while not justified to assault an officer, the officer’s response was excessive. I think a few days suspension without pay, re-training, an apology, and a few weeks of desk duty would be appropriate.

That cop will be fired and that girl will get paid. What a moron cop. Know where you are

It’s a shame in this society people can get “paid” for the results of a situation they caused. If she isn’t really hurt should she still get “paid?” I’m not condoning the cops action but he got caught up in the moment. It’s actually not often cops have to deal with someone punching them. Bottom line If she isn’t hurt she should definitely not get paid.

Anyone defending the cop needs to reassess their manhood. Dude is a **** to swing on a girl like that.
Really? Your comment reeks of chauvinism cloaked in false manhood right there.

You're entitled to your opinion. I don't think a man should punch a drunk woman in the face because she is slapping the top of his head. Call it whatever you'd like. As a cop you have multiple ways to subdue someone so it's even less of an excuse.

Her behavior is putrid especially in front of her kid. She ruined big parts of the game I'm sure for about 30 minutes trying to fight other fans there that went to watch a game.

And then she Chosed to slap a cop...quit cryin'. She got what was comin and she earned it

Pig. They go into that job dreaming of busting up somebody like that. He’d better be on the street today.

you're a ******* a$$. My son puts his life on the line everyday for idiots like you.. Until you are on the other side of a gun/weapon, STFU . Assault is assault. Vietnam vet and saw too many of my men killed by woman and children. While you might not think this was life threatening, you never know what someone's next move could be. Next time you need help, call her lawyer

Not fair at all to throw all officers into a single description, so understand your frustration. However, comparing this drunk girl at a Miami game to the Vietnam war is obviously absurd. If this guy wasn't wearing a uniform, his actions would automatically be viewed as atrocious. This is no different from Dalvin Cook or De'Andre Johnson when they punched women for slapping at them or shoving them. In fact, it might be worse, because there are already other officers and stadium security grabbing a hold of her. Outlandishly out of proportion.

What if she swings and one of her nails gashes his eyes causing him intense pain that could result in him tripping and falling down the concrete steps potentially breaking his neck. Not saying I think he should've punched her but I have no problem with it. The girl is an idiot breaking several laws in that video one of them being obviously assaulting an officer.

ESPN talking about our rambunctious fans and their knack for getting involved with law enforcement? Oh we byke

This is a tough call. No man should ever hit a woman. However, you can never take chances when somebody is taking swipes at an officer. Excessive force? It was one hit. I'll admit though, I'd be ****ed if anyone hit one of my three girls like that. But then I'd put them in their place for acting a fool.

The real problem here is the lack of restraint, which would've prevented the strikes in the first place. Officer in the back was big enough to provide a bear hug, restraining both arms, while the other three lifted. In this situation though, getting her out of there as quick as possible with a larger intoxicated crowd was more priority.

Dumb . Enjoy your felony assaulting an officer to go with your busted face.

I know you aren't stupid, but no where in my post did compare this to Vietnam,=. My reference was to the fact anybody can and will kill you. Man, woman or children. My reaction will ALWAYS exceed what is being done to me, here or in the jungles of Vietnam. That's way I survived 11 months in the jungle. I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

the FSU qb got kicked out of school for similar action... and he is a kid... the 'peace officer' deserves worse

She put her hands on an officer. She is guilty of felony assault. That does not, necessarily, completely excuse the actions by the officer. As someone else pointed out, assault and excessive force are not mutually exclusive. He could also be looking at trouble. IMO, the first mistake was made by the officers, all of them, who attempted to pick her up and carry her out rather than restrain her and escort her out. But my opinion is based on a very limited glimpse of what could be much more context. Perhaps they tried to handcuff her and she resisted to the point where it became a safety issue to the officers and rest of the fans and the decision to forcibly remove her was made.

It's just hard to tell much from a short video clip aside from the fact that the woman assaulted an officer. This a felony.
