We are not close to elite

People complain about the staff? really? last year they turned Njoku into a 1st round pick. when they had upperclassmen with talent in the secondary they were on beast mode. RJ Mcintosh, Jaquan, etc have all show alot of development. We have a problem with depth in key areas. Its just the way it is. I have always been willing to give richt until 2018. its common sense.

Never thought we were elite, even when we were ranked 2. That said, it was a very good season all things considered.

Georgia was 8-5 last year. Miami just needs to keep moving in this direction.

I don't see a talent gap with Georgia. They just have a better QB and a solid identity on offense.

Duke Johnson is one of the best backs in the league. Was al Golden a good coach?

Listen no one is saying our coaches can’t develop, what some people are saying is that they don’t use them properly. This team was not prepared for Wisconsin or Pitt.

This staff should have sat Richards for some of those games we didn’t really need him for. This staff should have sat Walton if he wasn’t 100%!

There were a ton of mistakes made this year that should have never been made

This team was frustrating to watch all season. After the VT and ND game I really thought this team turned a corner, Nope, just smoke and mirrors. I went to Pittsburgh game and sat right behind the Miami bench. They were playing for a perfect season and they moped around the whole game. Where is the pride? This team could easily been 6-7.

and one of the best tandem of RB's in the history of CFB.

Its on just players, it scheme. Yesterday you saw 4 of the best teams in CFB right now and their offense all looked the same. Pre-snap movement in-order to create mismatches and get players in space. Misdirection to take advantage of skills players abilities. These are things we really didnt see this year. My hope is the team was too young and RICHT didnt want to throw too much at them..... REALITY is our OC's arent creative enough! JT4 is a player we NEED to get the ball to. And not only on deep routes. DeeJay has the physical tools to be special for us. And those skills can be displayed in a variety of way, not just lined up behind or at the side of the QB. Watching those games today makes me believe we really need someone outside of the UGA family to have some say on Offense. Its nice that RICHT plans on travelling around so he can keep up with everyone else but thats never been the MIAMI way. We invent! then REINVENT!

The lack of pre snap motion in our offense is so frustrating. Jeff Thomas needs to be a threat on reverses and jet sweeps. Give defenses something to make them question where the ball is going. I'm not saying we need a gadget offense but something other than lining up and running one of eight plays. In the OU-UGA game, I think on Sony's first TD, pre snap motion had the defense moving in one direction and created a huge cut back lane that led to a long TD. It was basically the same shotgun formation we use but with motion.

The other aspect that has been troubling to me is Rosier's tendency to look at one read then tuck and run. I know that is probably what he has been coached to do and the O line has to protect better but receivers are open, the QB has to get them the ball. The only time all year I've seen Rosier pass the ball when scrambling was the Cager TD in the OB.

The offense Richt runs can be much more effective with motion. Especially against better teams we have to find creative plays in the running game can improve our rushing offense. Nothing against Rosier, but Perry and William's are better athletes and should be taught to keep their eyes downfield while scrambling.

That play made me really wonder wtf we are doing. Sony is a great athlete but that was all scheme. They used the motion to create the cut back lane when they noticed the LB leave early on jet sweeps. That's all coaching

Good QB play would do wonders for us. If Perry is the goods like some say we will make major leaps next year.

I don't see a talent gap with Georgia.

Maybe not when our best 3 guys on O are healthy.. but depth wise it's not even close. We need several more elite classes. Coaching staff isn't good enough to win with less IMO. Let's all hope Perry is for real.

we're also not a million miles away

clemson got beat by syracuse, oklahoma by iowa state, alabama by auburn and georgia got curb stomped by auburn

we saw the best programs out there but alabama's offense is nothing too impressive and you can find deficiencies in the other teams for sure.

let's not lose hope. we're getting there. depends on how well we recruit and reconsider our schemes and coaching.

Their oline was blowing oklahoma off the ball on some plays. Granted, Oklahoma isn't known for their defense, but our oline struggled with just about every team we played. They're also adding 3 5 stars to an already pretty good oline.

I’ll put it like this, and I mean this in all sincerity; Stop B*TCHING LIKE MY WIFE!

We get it: we’re not on that level yet. Stop acting like we’ve been relevant for the last decade or better yet close to being relevant. We’ve had 0 positivity around this program for 13 yrs, which included a scandal that gave us a black eye in which all these teams u see now took full advantage of. We were dropped by a sponsor for futility, we had a coach that preached we-fense and alienated the locker room and our fan base. We had another coach who refused to recruit any school besides Miami Northwestern, burning multiple, MULTIPLE bridges, while yet another coach who sat on the laurels of his predecessor, choosing to recruit any guy who had a 5 or 4 star behind his name w/o doing due diligence! Come On!

We just won our 1st.....let me repeat this...OUR 1st ACC Coastal crown, our 1st 10 win season, w a guy who has Clark Kent hair and should be playing ball for Texas A&M-Commerce!

I get it, we want more. We tasted some success, and got greedy. Richt needs to do more w our offense, we need quality depth, our S&C needs to step up, but got ****.....how many threads do we need to start a day b*tching about it?!

Be grateful for what we have. Be grateful we don’t have No D flipping through pages or calling 4.8 S elite and a bunch of yes men agreeing. Be grateful we don’t have a coach who was trying to back door his way to his dream job then giving up on the team like a baby causing alienation. Yes, I want Richt to step his game up, and I refuse to be his Georgia, but can we, once, just once, remember this is year two of him inheriting a University of Miami Ohio roster, vs The U? Let the Class of 16 become our leaders. Let the class of 17 mature, and let the class of 18 take us to that next step. It’s year two guys, and we just won 10 w a coastal crown. These kids haven’t been used to winning, and they’ve been learning. If things remain the same next year, or we take a step back, have it.

Agreed, although we made improvements, we are a few classes away. Size, speed, toughness and awareness needs to improve. Appreciate anyone that wears the U on their helmet, but there are a few that just are not up to the level we need. If they are the best we have, and we do not have replacements, or enough replacements in the class, that should be the sobering thought as to where we currently are in the football hierarchy.

I am not worried about getting the right players ... it is the lack of quality coaches that is appalling... Special teams???? beyond horrible

Knute Rockne would make this team elite. Saban isn't saban without the horses.

+10000000. Great post!!

Take a good look at Bama, Clemson, UGA even Wisconsin.... need to elevate our S&C team to include performance enhancers
we use to have an effective program..... not although we stack up athletically schools have an edge with better programs

I'm not worried about being far behind physically. We'll get the kids. Richt can recruit.

My concern is will we be able to out-coach anybody once we get the kids?

What I saw this season leads me to believe it's a NO. And that's a major concern. We can't just out-talent everybody on our way to a National Championship. Too many well-coached teams in the way.

That Wisonsin game was a big letdown for me. The Pitt game sucked, but I chalked it up to being a trap. And truthfully, Rosier basically lost us that game. The Clemson game I anticipated. But the Wisky game? I thought maybe they would push us around a bit, but I did not anticipate them carving us up in the air and completely out-coaching us.
There really is no reason for that to happen. They do not have the players we do. They have SIX 4/5 star players on their squad. We have 25.
Re-watching the game made it even worse. I replayed and dissected almost every play from our defense. I looked at our alignments, techniques, etc. Then I compared it to what Wisconsin was doing on defense with inferior players. It was night and day. Everything they did just made more sense and was more sound, hence the reason their defense forced more contested throws. It was very disheartening.

Watching the inside/middle/intermediate section of our defense gets chewed up by a mediocre QB and a bunch of low rated WR's was extremely frustrating, especially when a lot of it stemmed from alignment and/or technique. (i.e. why is a DB lined-up outside of a WR and giving away the inside?)

Wisconsin wasn't doing anything special either, yet we still couldn't stop it. When they needed a 1st down they simply ran a WR bender right behind our LB's for an easy completion. LB starring at the QB and not getting depth + the Safety 15 yards off the WR = stealing for a garbage *** QB

When I see us constantly make inferior players look good, why would I believe that we could EVER stop superior players at programs like Clemson?
