We Are Ahead of Schedule

We’re not ahead of schedule, we’re right on schedule this was Mario’s 4th year, it generally takes about 3 years to build a team.

I’m with you. It was a bizarre officiated game

Cignetti absolutely *****ed his way into several penalties early in the second half

He took time out of his interview on the way to the lockerroom to literally cry about it on tv
Cignetti is just plain f.uccin weird man. Like part of me thinks he's autistic, part of me thinks he's a secret serial killer like Dexter, part of me thinks he's like Steve Jobs, part thinks he's Saban, and all of me thinks he eats his own boogers when no one is looking..... and it was those comments at the halftime interview that convinced me he enjoys eating those boogers.

It’s like with baseball umpires when they do “makeup” calls

Football refs do it all the time and it drives me nuts

Call the play in front of you not because you are scared the coach is going to keep yelling at you

Re: penalties, I am convinced we have calls against us because of our reputation, and less because of coaching. Put Saban on our sideline and I don’t think results are different (ok, maybe a little but you get the point).
I think OJ and the rest of us had ptsd after ever pass breakup. He was always looking at the refs before celebrating. Not gonna lie I was to because we are conditioned to the acc **** refs.

Nothing worse than a loss in a game you should have won. No way to spin it. We should have won the game and this one stings.

But, we are also ahead of schedule. I remember the team Mario took over. In no way did I ever think we'd be complaining about losing a the National Championship in Year 4. I always thought this was a 5 Year climb at a minimum.

Things to improve:

1. Mario's come a long way in his Game Day coaching, but he still has to get the penalty issue fixed. It continues to haunt his teams.

2. We are still lacking explosion on offense.

3. I ain't saying fire the man, but Dawson needs help. We didn't play a good game of offense this entire playofff run.

No reason why we shouldn't be right in the thick of it come next season and beyond. I look at this season as a HUGE missed opportunity, but also a season in which we were playing with house money.
I agree mario has laid a great foundation and hes a relentless recruiting and great with the portal but it is gna be really tough to replace 4 of 5 on the OL and potentially 3 of 4 on the DL (still hoping miami pays up to get Moten back.) Pretty sure this is the best DE tandem weve had maybe ever. I can't speak for the 80s and early 90s when I was just a young kid...either way this one hurts really bad bc there's no telling when we'll return but I hope its sooner rather than later

I'll be very interested in seeing how Indiana performs moving forward. They had a very senior team and a lot of those guys have been together at JMU. They also had a really good fit at QB.
I also can't believe, unless I heard wrong, that they had six turnovers all season, ONE fumble and five interceptions.
That's massive and frankly not sustainable. I'm not taking anything away from them; they did what they needed to do to win, but nothing I saw about them made me think they're now some juggernaut.

What no one in the media has or would say other other than Miami didnt win the ACC is that Miami showed they could very well have won the SEC and Big Ten

He plays up the narrative the media has about him so the refs think well, his teams play clean, Miami is dirty, so I have to call the way he wants it

No different this morning, Fletcher must be the bad guy, hes from Miami and not that the IU player was 100% wrong

NCAA might allow them to sign players that get cut from NFL teams ;)

I think mark cuban money combined with cignetti scouting, makes them a threat for years to come. They scout the right old dudes in the portal, and they have plenty of nil money to sign them.
A team of seniors will always be a threat against younger competition

Dawson needs a QB that can hit downfield passes. He's not perfect, but let's not pretend he didn't have the #1 O in the country when he had a real QB. A real QB and a real deep threat and we're cooking again.

Ahead of schedule after losing to Indiana is a wild thing to say

100%. Our defensive staff is strong top to bottom. From the outside, Hetherman leads that staff incredibly.

Our offensive staff feels fragmented and less impressive overall. TE coach is obvious as many have said.

so, the cam ward experience didnt count for you? that was national prominence and a double digit win season

“Ahead of schedule” is meaningless

Im not surprised people are getting in their feelings about it
Your window only exists as you’re currently in it. Each year and season is its own beast. That’s what sucks about getting so close. Next year isn’t another guaranteed shot

Win the ACC and make another playoff run in 2026. Gotta make this permanent and take home all the playoff winnings......
