Way too early analysis of LSU game anyone?

They lose their top 2 players to the NFL in (RB) Derrius Guice and (DE) Arden Key. Both should be 1st round picks.

The senior starters they lose include:

(QB) Danny Etling
(RB) Darrel Williams - technically a backup but plays a bunch
(WR) DJ Chark - their best receiver
(WR) Russell Gage
(LT) KJ Malone
(DE) Christian LaCouture
(DT) Greg Gilmore
(LB) Donnie Alexander
(LB) Corey Thompson
(S) John Battle

Junior starters they lose to the draft are:

(RB) Derrius Guide
(RT) Toby Weathersby
(CB) Donte Jackson
(CB) Kevin Tolliver

Overall, they're losing a lot of their top tacklers on defense and their #1 QB, RB and WR. Unless they get some crazy QB transfer in the off season, I see LSU taking a slight step backwards next year and we should favored against them to start the season.

They should take more than a slight step back, they are loosing more than normal. This was the year they were supposed to compete somewhat and next year was suppose to be a down year.

Same as every other game. Their QB will complete every slant they throw. Our DT’s and DE’s will rush upfield on every single play like it’s a pass play. We will give up big running plays. If we get turnovers then we will win. If not, we lose.

The '05 Peach Bowl was in my first year living in Baton Rouge and solidified my eternal hatred for LSU (that and the fact that Warren Morris' picture is plastered to the wall of every sports bar in town). My car was egged after that game and I was ridiculed relentlessly for a year plus. I look forward to sacrificing many long-time relationships leading up to and after this game.

With that said, I see us winning 24-13.

With very few exceptions, LSU always fields a strong and ultra-talented defense, and Aranda is as good as they come. They do lose a fair number of starters, and their recent DL's have not been as deep or as talented as they once were, but they've recruited well and always have the horses. Their DB's are always ultra-aggressive and play the ball well, so we will need smart decision making, but a solid dual threat QB is capable of moving the ball well against them.

Offensively, they really do suck. They obviously have athletes, but Orgeron restricts the play calling (similar to Miles) and they will be breaking in a new OC (most likely Ensminger, who is a good offensive mind, but whose likely hiring is indicative of deeply rooted administrative problems that will lead to the continued decline of the program). Assuming Guice declares, this will be the first year in a while they won't have an absolute stud at running back, and they'll be breaking in a talented, but young QB (either Brennan, a rising sophomore who played sparingly this year, or Narcisse, a rising redshirt freshman who hasn't played live football in a solid 2 years). I will be disappointed if we give up more than 14 points, even with our DT situation.

The vibe of the program is extremely negative right now, and we should be able to drive the program further into the gutter.

We return the opening kickoff for 6, Garvin gets a strip sack which we recover and return for 6, Tyson Campbell gets a pick 6 in his freshman debut and we Roll...

We SHOULD beat LSU comfortably.

makes a lot of sense given that noone beat them comfortably this past year and noone usually beats LSU comfortably, but keep on with your unfounded dumb expectations so you can meltdown for dumb reasons

Stop the **** game! They are blowing us off the LOS! For the love of God! Throw the **** towel! All the humanity! Fly the banners! Turn those machines back on!

Oh, wait......"analysis". I thought this was the "Way too early LSU Game Thread".

My bad.

I just hope no one brings up the transitive property and compares our game against Notre Dame to theirs.

It's going to be very low scoring. They lose Guice and Williams at RB and don't really have any stud RB waiting in the wings to replace them. We will have trouble against them in the trenches and should be starting a QB in his first start, but I don't see them scoring much on us.

We beat ND, ND beat LSU, therefore we beat LSU. Did I do it right?

It will be like a home game for LSU here in Dallas. Tons of LSU alumni running around this city and Lousiana is but a short drive away.

Why are Miami's "neutral site" games never really neutral? Notre Dame in Chicago a few years back, LSU in Dallas, Alabama in Atlanta...

Actually the Atlanta one ain’t bad. A lot of people forget we’re strong in the ATL and the Carolinas. Just look at how many are on this board.
