So a receiver was upset in a game where we ran the ball 60 times and won by 24? I'm over this players whining ****.

Back when we were good, if a player wasn't happy they dominated practice, balled out on the field and showed everyone they belonged. Today, they whine and sulk. And we run with it to fuel the coaches suck argument.

If Herb got more run, people would ask about Malcolm or Coley or that Berrios was hot early or that Dorsett is fast as lightning. Get over it.

I get that Kaaya may like Berrios, and that Berrios is Coach Coley's guy ... But he's not special enough to relegate Waters or Malcolm Lewis to fewer reps or targets.

Playing favorites is weak in little league and high school ... But in college, it's borderline criminal. Plenty of time for Berrios to get his action ... But Coley is costing Waters and Lewis serious professional opportunities. They should be getting all the reps, along with Dorsett and Coley. If one of those 4 is down, then Berrios. But I haven't seen anything from Berrios that says he should be the clear number 2 or 3 receiver.

Lewis has not looked good in his opportunities touching the ball.

Lewis has looked no worse than Berrios. Neither guy is as "electric" as Waters, IMO.

Fans want their favorites to play, because there is no downside for the fan if their favorite is not really the best guy. There is a downside for coaches is they play favorites.

What the "coaches are playing favorites" means is that someone is playing over someone you want them to play.

Or ... It means a Coach APPEARS to be making decisions based on the kids he recruited versus the ones he didn't. The same theory can be applied to kids who "buy in" vs. kids who don't.

Where's that thread on Luther Robinson being a decent player in the NFL, but somehow couldn't be a starter for us ... And was actually told he should switch to the O-Line?

Yeah ... Coaches never have personal agendas, or allow normal human emotions to guide their decisions. They are fully objective, in every decision. LOL

You people are reading too much into it. Golden said they changed their game plan and were going to run it and keep running it. Dorsett, Malcolm and Brax are our best Blocking WR's. No sense to have Herb out there just to block when he isn't that good at it right now. We had 7 completions and 3 of them were to RB's. Herb is fine.

We only threw the ball 14 times. Goldens gameplan all along was to run the ball the whole game as he said in post game he needed tucker, walford, and dobard to block for 3 hours.

Why, specifically, is Waters better than Berrios? Have you watched them in practice? How do you know the coaches are playing favorites, any proof?

Waters and Malcolm Lewis play a lot. You can't force Kaaya to throw them the ball if they are not open when he is making his progressions. Also, for the year, Berrios has 18 receptions, Lewis has 18 receptions and Water has 19 receptions.

Finally, why is it James Coley's, or any other coach for that matter, job to make sure certain players get "professional opportunities"?

I haven't watched them in practice, so I guess you have me there. We should shut down all message boards though, if the only guys allowed to have opinions have to watch practice. LOL

Seriously ... I don't watch Duke in practice, either ... But I know he's better than Gus is. Also know he was better than Mike James when James was the starter. But maybe it's all just opinion ...

Berrios doesn't have more catches, but he has more targets. The targets are because of the play calls and QB decisions. Sometimes the slot is the primary or secondary, those are play call driven. I'd prefer Waters have more opportunities.

And finanlly ... The coach "sells" the kids on how he can make them better, and get them to the next level. Coley didn't "sell" Waters and Lewis, but he did sell Berrios. Seems pretty obvious, to me ... He's getting, at least, 1 WR "professional opportunities". LOL

How about you tell me how you know they aren't playing favorites? If you are at practice, let me know what I'm missing that makes Berrios better than Waters and/or Lewis ...

Stacey Coley is better than Berrior and Waters combined but I don't hear you gripping about Coley's touches.

It is a moot point anyways..as another post stated...they are 2 completely different types of players and play different positions so the comparison is not warranted and Berrios isn't taking the touches away from Waters...everyone else on the offense is.

But if you want to argue for arguments sake...we can double porst from corches all day.

Honestly, if we run the same game plan for the rest of the season and run the ball 80% of the time I am totally content. Our best player on offense is a running back. Hands down. I say milk it for all its worth. Waters and company will get opportunities to make plays down the road as teams stack the box and dare Kayaa to throw.

VT did not do that. They sat back with their safeties deep most of the time. So....you run the ball when you do that. One of James Coley's faults this season has been to get away from what is working. Aka, we are averaging 5+ yards a carry and he calls 3 straight passes type of bull****. Last game was the first I actually say Coley remain patient, stay the course, and run it down a team's throats. VT had no answer for that. None.

I think Waters is currently a better WR than Berrios, and I like Berrios a lot. Now, their skill sets are different, but I don't think Waters is getting enough opportunities. Frankly, we're so disjointed (other than last game), that it's a disservice to everyone.

The game plan should revolve around Duke Williams. We should be in (at least) 3 WR sets almost the entire game. When the defense decides to focus on the run, we have speedsters to run vertical and have guys like Waters fill the space cleared. Get better route combinations in the middle of the field. Get better route combinations between the RB/FB/TE. We have at least 5 future NFL players (Dorsett, Walford, Coley, Waters, Duke) at our skill positions.

This **** is college football - it doesn't have to be that complicated. I've really come around on the simplification of basically everything. You can add a few wrinkles as the season progresses and depending on your opponent. It just has to be executed consistently and let the talent do their thing.
