..watching Georges St. Pierre fight in the UFC.

For those that don't follow MMA, St. Pierre was one of the first truly complete martial artists in the sport. He could box, he could kick, he knew jiu-jitsu, and he wrestled with Olympians. When he fought grapplers, he used his wrestling to avoid takedowns. This allowed him to keep fights on the feet when he had a striking advantage. If he was fighting a dominant striker, he took the fight to the ground and smothered his opponent. GSP fights weren't always exciting, but the outcome was rarely in doubt.

This game felt that way. FSU played two safeties deep for most of the game. They wanted to neutralize our passing game. The Canes responded by rushing for 230 yards (5.8 YPC) and 3 TDs. It wasn't exciting, but we were in control the whole time and ended up big on the scorecards. This remains the best offense in the country.

As we know, it’s our defense that will determine our ceiling. FSU didn’t test us much. They have no skill position or OL talent. But the defense played better, we’re healthy, and a house full of recruits saw us beat FSU by three touchdowns. Life is good.

Great analogy.

Loved JSP, and that was spot on.

My only concern is did FSU stop Cam by scheme or personnel? Can Manny just copy FSU's scheme and shut Ward down next week? Like TVD and Georgia Tech? Another thing is I bet the over and lost my ***! But that is my personal loss not a fanbase concern.

for sure, you gotta think everybody will be using that against Cam Ward from here and out.

Not sure we should take much regarding our defense from this game. They stacked up terribly against us.

We did what we do on offense but quite frankly we were off there, not just because of the more conservative cover. We should have been able to get open more underneath better with the CBs in man, and when we did, our protection broke down. Got to fix that.

Yeah we beat them comfortably. But any Top 20 team would. Are we a Top 12 much less a Top 4 team though? Still a week to week question IMO.

The point is it doesn’t matter to some extent. We ran the ball at will. We scored on 8 of 9 possessions. We need touchdowns instead of field goals, but this is also the first week that happened.

Exactly. We punted once in the game.

The game is 60 minutes long.

FSU was leading for 0 minutes, 0 seconds.

It was tied for 2 minutes, 35 seconds.

Miami was leading for 57 minutes, 25 seconds.

We scored on 7 of our 8 drives. I’m not sure if people are going to be dying to copy FSU. 2 of the field goals we would’ve gone for it on 4th and short if the seminoles had a pulse and the other field goal was because we ran out of time in the half not because we were stopped. It was a dominant offensive performance it just was boring as ****

The fact that a 1-7 fsu team shut down our passing game which is supposed to be elite is extremely concerning. I just don’t see how this team can beat any of the p4 playoff teams. If Cam goes bonkers maybe but our Superman appeared to have met his kryptonite with that fsu gameplan.

Let’s hope we make some adjustments because I thought that Dawson was mediocre last night calling the game

We ran for almost 250. If other teams “stop Cam” (I don’t think they stopped him, but that’s word salad), and we can run for 250, I’m cool with it. You probably are too. Sorry about the bet.

Couldn’t anyone really? Especially proper opponents
