Watching Mario's Postgame...

this is a stretch. Was never a big Mario fan, root like **** for him but Louisville just beat them. beat Miami in the trenches, beat them in TO margin and also beat them in tackling
Yes they did--my question is how. This wasn't the same team we saw the first six weeks.

Hey, I hear ya. I just don't think this is the case tonight. They just weren't ready to play. It happens. Rat poison or whatever they didn't play to their level. To me, that's a coaching thing. Practically didn't wake up until the 4th. I wont say a lot of things went wrong, but I will say a lot of things didnt go right.

I think players just get tired of hearing the same tough guy rhetoric. It has to wear thin after a while. Another team just came in to your stadium and out schemed you on both sides of the ball. All they are going to get from the coach is “work harder” “be men” blah blah blah. What’s the plan to make the team harder to gameplan against? What new plays are being implemented to maximize the talent? They will get none of this. Just show up ready to work and hope that enough.
Listen to Beck's post game... Especially the part about the run game..

its called competition. we see it every week all across college football. The defense was terrible on 1st down today, Louisville won field position, turnovers, tackling and penalties of course. Louisville earned victory

Yes, but with Mario's teams it is a TREND--it happens every year, at Oregon and Miami. I am trying to figure out WHY. I laid out my two hypotheses in the OP.

Poyser looked lively.
Scott was electric
Malachi was insane

Do those guys not practice?

It’s the midpoint of the season. They are not over worked in practice. They were flat. Dawson had a bad game. Heatherman had a bad first quarter. Beck had his worst game ever. We lost by 3. It sucks.

But it was... but it was... Louisville just knocked off the orange and green glasses when they punched us in the face tonight

I agree with OP. I’ve thought about this for several seasons. I think it happened to Oregon too. We always wondered why Mario’s teams seem to have so many injuries. Maybe that was an overblown, but I always thought perhap he wears a team down by the end of the season?

Perhaps the issue isn’t physical wear down but players tuning out to his message.

Yes--you guys think they do nothing during a bye week? I am sure they are (over)doing workouts and full-contact practices--if not, it sure looks like it when you play with no gas or legs.

I don't buy it. None of that showed up in our first 5 games.

Poyser, Toney, O'Connor, Scott, Marty....they not practice this week?
