If teams want to copy their game plan, we’ll destroy them on the ground like we did to ND and UF. I hope teams are stupid enough to try that.

I actually think it’s far more likely teams borrow the USF plan of stacking the box and forcing Beck to beat you through the air. He can do it, but he’s prone to mistakes. And if he’s off like he was tonight, then that’s how we could drop a game.

He talked post game to Joe Z about Ron Robert’s defense and how tough and confusing it is Said he faced it vs Auburn and vs UF.
 
We are a better team than last year. Having a defense that can keep you in a game is not something we had last year at any point. Great teams can win in more than one way. Beck will get his. It was raining, UF is a good defense, and their 2 high look wasn't helping them defend the run so who cares if Beck didn't throw a ton.

I don’t think we’re more complete. I’ve already explained this in great detail in the “Crow Eating” thread comparing stats, schedule, statistics after 3 games; however, since u brought it up:

After 4 games:
-We gave up 41 points in 2024
-In 2025, we’ve given up 46 points

-Teams we played in 2024 were a combined 7-9 after 4 g
-Teams we’ve faced in 2025 are a combined 6-9 after 4 g

I know we’re in this age of revisionist history, but our former DC, Lance Guidry? Yeah, he was Lance Guidry da Gawd from 2023 - 9/21/2024. Our Def was actually elite from 08/31-09/21/2024.
Our defensive rankings after 4 games last yr:
•Total Def: 10th
•Sacks: T-1st
•TFLs: 8th
•Rushing Def: 6th
•Passing Def: 35th
•Passing Efficiency Def: 12th
•Scoring Defense: 11th
•3rd Down Def: 8th
•Turnovers: 15th

We had an electric offense (2nd), & an elite defense (10th) after 4 games in 2024. U guys forget this, but I keep telling u: I remember it all. So no, after 4 games am I going to tell u it feels different. The only thing that feels different is the offense, & this offenses’ ability to keep teams in games is concerning. Now if after 10/4 we contain a high octane while dominating the L.O.S, I’ll tell u at that moment it’s different.
 
Good teams win ugly games like this after letting ops hang around; probably the best scenario going into the bye w/FSU on deck.

There's not much of a talent discrepancy between us and Florida. They have plenty of guys that will play in the NFL.

Good teams win, great teams cover -- and we covered by more than double. Our QB played like ***, we had several pre-snap penalties in the red zone, a would-be TD prematurely blown dead -- and we covered by more than double.
I don't care that they had D-lineman injured and their coach is Napier, you don't think Vegas knows that?

It's college football man, we waited months for these Saturdays. But we win 3 football games and now we have fans disappointed because we don't look like the 07 Patriots every week. Lest we forget it was just 3 years ago (**** near to the day) when we were smacked up at home by Middle Tennessee and ended up going 5-7.

We're a month into the season, put your post-season fantasies on hold for the moment and let yourself enjoy these W's.

Beck got hit and it shell shocked him because he's holding the ball waiting for his long developing primary and second reads to develop. Dawson we need 7 ******* yards. Why are the X, Y and, Z running 12 to 15 yards downhill.

What happened to the whip routes with Malachi Toney. Quick easy first read doesn't take long to develop, safeties 15 yards back so if he wins the rep he can turn a 5 yard gain into 10+.

We literally didn't do it even tho Florida waz literally giving it to us.

Yes!!! I understand yall holding the players accountable but you have to be fair. A coach has to make it easy for his QB and Oline. No matter how much you want to blame execution at some point you have to step back and say " OK, my QB isnt comfortable and hes not making the throws. Let's reel the offense in and just take the underneath routes
the defense is giving us. Its 3&4 and Dawson has 4 wr sets in twins bunch formation within the numbers and every WR going 15 yards downfield and we only need 4 yards. Like are you ******* dumb you blockhead *****?

So Carson has to make through 4 intermediate to deep reads, the oline has to block long enough, and with pressure, Carson has to throw an accurate pass to the check down


Man that's not easy and one of the things that makes Tom Brady one of the best to ever do it.

The boot dumps to the TE, the WR screens and the underneath\short routes were working. Yet, Dawson continued to run his primary routes into the numbers/teeth of the defense.

Any team whose DBs play aggressive and they rotate to 2 high coverages post snap with disguised coverages presnap stalemate Dawson's offense.

TvD, Cam, Beck all have struggled against it. DAWSON has had so many great games and calls and hes not the worst. Yet, for us to win a ship we need him to adjust. We have to work the underneath when a team plays 2 high on us. And we have to work it from the first read and not thr 3rd and/or 4th.

What happened to Mali in the slot working the whip route like vs ND? I really dont get Dawson sometimes. He single handedly kept UF in that game.

What says we’ve played good defenses? 2024?
-Notre Dame is 108th (& will probably drop further after Purdue gave them a little fit)

-USF is 120th

-UF is 27th.

So who were the two good defenses we’ve faced?

This was a very good win vs a rival
We physically dominated
Them!!!

This defense is elite - they play very sound defense.
I don’t see blown assignments
I don’t see players
Jumping around and looking aroind
I see clean tackling and toughness!
I see 6,7 hats around the ball EVERY PLAY

Spot. On. We need something other than an IZ handoff in critical moments. A good Miami team heads into half time up 20 to 0 and puts the game away getting the ball back to start the 3rd.
