Was anybody excited when we hired Manny in December 2018?

I was so happy he got the Temple job because in my mind that would mean we wouldn't make the mistake of hiring him. So I was highly disappointed when we poached him from temple to say the least

The guy that needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY is Blake James ... Fire Blake now, hire a new person by the middle of November so he/she can research and hire the new head coach of the Canes in the first week of December.
A-men

More like hopeful. The continuity, sort of would give us better than the usual coaching turn over negative effects.

i was ****ed...and whoever celebrated the hire is fuqqin retarded to be honest. many celebrated the hire unfortunately...countless threads on "we can't lose manny to another school" and he's a miami guy...

It was underwhelming. I was thinking, maybe they know something about him that I haven't seen already. Nope, I should've known better after the Golden hire. James knew folks at the school liked Diaz and quickly pulled the trigger in a lazy *** move for an AD. Dude has no business being an AD. Manny the fan can go be friends with players at the boys club with no D.

Was dumbfounded and then was just dumb, buying into the off-season marketing. Now it's just dumb as **** if Manny isn't pink slipped. That being said - real change, I fear, is a pipe dream if BJ is in charge of finding a new corch.

I was mad as **** at Blake James. I thought Manny's defense was gimmicky, didn't think he deserved to be DC much less HC. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt until the Michigan State game. It's not his fault he's a fraud. Well, it is. But the real fault lies in the fact we hired him in the first place. You never hire someone with no HC experience at Miami, and you certainly never do so without a search.

i remember this board that weekend he was hired. Many found ways to be excited but overwhelming majority were devastated because of Blake James incompetence. Myself included. I was willing to give it a chance because what other choice do we have..... Manny did some decent things here. But he is a terrible head coach and needs to be shown the door. Along with Blake James
I think a lot of it was people knew he'd get three years and were hoping he'd make the best of it.

But yup, time to fix the athletic department.

Some of us(myself included) were beyond ****ed when he was hired. Go pull up the old threads, some of us were livid. We KNEW that hiring this guy, without even reaching out to a qualified candidate was pathetic. Richt did this program a favor, he walked away, giving Miami a chance to hire a new coach without paying for the previous one, and Blake James **** himself like a newborn baby. Miami could have at least interviewed a couple of guys before going with Manny, most of us would have been understanding had it looked like Miami tried to make a legit effort.

Miami didn't even do that, they just panicked and hired Manny, when they could have done significantly better. Even hiring a retread like Charlie Strong would have made more sense than hiring Manny.

I don't remember anyone being excited. I remember anger and then people deciding to give him a chance as he started his string of "winning" during the off-season. I can't think of a single person that said it was a great hire at the actual time of the hire though.
