Wacky scenario discussed on NYC Sports Radio today.

The only wacky scenario I’ve been thinking about is how to get Miami to #1 on December 3rd (though being #1 on January 9th is way more important).

I guessed it would have to take...

-TCU winning
-OSU winning

...but would the SEC automatically get the #1 slot if either UGA or Auburn wins?

Or,

OK, WI and Auburn win and the Committee would put Miami at #4 .

Just rather go to New Orleans.

It would be hard to keep Auburn ahead of us if we beat the team that beat them.

That’s my first thought, but with the debate being that Auburn could be #1 this week (over OK)...it means they’re not dropping if they win.

Who the heck listens to NYC sports talk for info about college football, you've got to come south of the Mason Dixon to be legit

I fully believe they will look for every excuse to get Alabama and Ohio State in the playoff.

Winner of SEC gets in

Winner of ACC gets in....

They need TCU to beat Oklahoma

Ohio State beats Wisky

I think they want a Auburn/Ga, Clemson/Miami, Alabama and Ohio State final 4

Can we all agree that these are the teams we must root for?

TCU, OSU, AUB, MIA

I am in tri state and no longer listen to sports radio much but I can obviously say that college fb is nowhere near as big as the nfl here...people just not as knowledgeable, don't care about it as much, maybe a few penn state and ND "fans" here and there....even promulgating a scenario where we beat the likely #1 team and are 11-1 one loss conf champs and not getting in is just exposing ignorance in my opinion

Is the committee absolutely obligated by rule to take the conference champions over teams that did not win their conference? If not, then it would not surprise me if they try to shoehorn Bama into the playoff.

"Miami is in if they beat Clemson, but they have no chance of doing that" Line I have heard the most.

We would have beaten the #1 team in the nation and the #3 team in the nation and won our conference championship. We win and we are in.

this whole we would have beaten the whatever # team doesn't fly with me until final rankings.

then we can say who we beat. ND isn't the 3rd best team and CLEM isn't the best team

New York sports talk radio is THE worst.

Only for college sports......but it is truly bad for college sports though.....I actually tune in online to WQAM In Miami and a JOX in Birmingham to get real news but this topic came up on WFAN in NY today. The host was Mike Francesca who hates Miami....you'll recall him from the 30 for 30.......he did the TV color commentary for the '91 Cotton Bowl when we got penalized for like 222 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Hahaha. The reason I said it was THE worst is actually because I envisioned Francesa being the one talking about it (in between falling asleep)......with Chris Russo screaming in the background.....as Sid Rosenberg and Craig Carton argue about who has the best slices in Brooklyn.

No offense to you but I'd sooner listen to The Feast chew on glass than be subjected to local New York sports radio.

The rankings next week would indicate that we beat 1 top 10 team in CLEM, and two top 25 teams in ND & VT.

Other wins over bowl teams: Duke, UVA, FSU, Toledo.

Not the worst resume, but not as great as some try to make it appear with the whole" we beat the #1 and #3 teams, bro" thing.

It's a ploy to drive traffic. Sports talk radio and tv invented 'click bait/hot takes' before the internet was even a thing.

Everything I've read have all agreed that the SEC/ACC champs are shoe-ins. The only questionable chances are Big 12 and Big 10 Champs not named Oklahoma or Wisconsin.
