Obviously. And we beat USF worse than Alabama so clearly we should be the #1 team in the country and will likely beat Clemson by approximately 75 points. So one can conclude USF > UGA.

Our run game is awful. No imagination why we aren’t using Allen or Jordan more is beyond me. Defense, we need to get better with our run defense Cal RB is best back we have seen all year. I’m glad we won. But, need to improve. Time for Bain and Rivers to come back.I have and continue to be concerned about our run scheme/offense. Not going to go down the rabit hole yet again, but rewatch all of our games, especially in the 1H and the same stuff keeps reappearing. Others aren't worried for a myriad of reasons and some use stat lines to prove points. The same stuff from famu shows up in the VT game. We won, we have cam ward. I'm happy. But I also want a NC

Well yeah - we are tied with them for #1Obviously. So long as we can avoid Vanderbilt as they beat the vaunted Hokies and we know they didn't have to cheat for the win.
Great perspectiveI was a little surprised to jump on the boards last night and see so much negativity. Obviously it was much closer than we thought it would be, but I thought I was missing something based on the reactions.
I suppose I get it, and I left the game last night thinking, "hmmm, things looked a bit different in that one and I have some new concerns..." but isn't that football? I am not doom and gloom as some others and this didn't "feel like a loss" to me. We knew coming into this game that this team isn't perfect, but it is still **** good.
A few points:
Momentum is a powerful thing, and VT definitely gave us a gift with that fake FG (but Bryant made an amazing play - he doesn't shoot that gap, that's the nail in the coffin). With that said, and regarding momentum, the holding call on Bell, which in my mind was a little weak, took a TD off the board on a play that was another amazing highlight by Cam. That in and of itself didn't cause the shift, the INT on the next play was the culprit there, but that DB made a great play disguising and on that play, he won. He outmaneuvered Cam. It happens.
Styles make fights. VT came out with a great gameplan. Were we outcoached? For sure, but see above. What does that game look like if it is 21-7 and the stadium is going crazy after Cam once again finds George? We don't know, but I suspect it would be another runaway. I also think Vtech is going to end up better than we originally thought and this win will look different. Could be wrong, but that's the sense I get. They're physical and have a lot of heart.
VT Field Goal before the half - they had two 17s on the field - should have been wiped off. Refs...
Jalen Rivers - underrated, though I do think he's starting to get his due, is sorely missed. Bell played pretty well in the USF game, but in my post after leaving that game, I mentioned Cam being special for HOW he looks doing going about his business. He makes it look so easy. ...I will say the inverse with Bell - even in the USF game, and certainly this game, he doesn't look comfortable. I really hope that the light comes on and he's our LT of the future b/c he clearly has exceptional traits, but the way he goes about it just doesn't scream tactician.
OJ Frederique - a play not talked about much is when he sniffed out that screen. My god - he's going to be a player. Also, BS on that PI call - another major momentum shift that would have gotten the defense off the field on another great play made by the true freshman...instead, the POS line judge throws a flag from 35 yards away, on a call that isn't his to make.
Also, I counted and that flag was thrown 5 second after the play...which triggered my Terry Porter PTSD (...who to this day I want brought right here! With a big ribbon on his head! And I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, d1ckless, hopeless, heartless, fat-***, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is! Hallelujah! Holy ****! Where's the Tylenol? )
Hail Mary - joke that that was called a TD on the field. Same as D1ckless Terry Porter, there is NO WAY he saw possession to make that call. They got it right in the both. It was a loose ball and it was touched by a player who was out of bounds. No catch.
Last point: yes this is football, and sometimes these things happen...but we won. We still won. We played a bad game. We coached a bad game. VTech believed. But the Canes didn't quit. The kept grinding and won. I can't say that for any of our teams the past 18 years.
Okay, for real last point: Ole Miss lost at home. Georgia almost lost two weeks ago. Football is weird. Enjoy the win.
No, we're not going to fix any deficiencies on a message board, just like us being confident we're going to win a game isn't going to affect the outcome, but that doesn't stop some fans from just saying one game at a time, etc, etcJust an FYI, we're not going to fix any deficiencies on the message board.
Oh, and which programs out there are flawless right now?
If we could just take things one poRst at a time I think it would really help the team. No, we're not going to fix any deficiencies on a message board, just like us being confident we're going to win a game isn't going to affect the outcome, but that doesn't stop some fans from just saying one game at a time, etc, etc
I’m not a fan of the super tight splits. It gives no gaps for run lanes. If u get no push on the line the play is already deadI have and continue to be concerned about our run scheme/offense. The issue with our DB’s wasn’t really their coverage against VT, it was their tackling or lack thereof. Too many bad angles and missed tackles led to lots of big plays for VT.VT had 188 passing yards on 20/34 attempts, for an average of 5.5 Yards per pass. Our secondary has problems, but relatively speaking wasn't the big issue.
The big issue was the front seven. VT averaged six yards a carry, which is bad. We need Bain badly.
VT had 188 yards passing. That’s not being destroyed. The biggest problem and this is a problem across college football, if the front doesn’t get to the quarterback, most teams do not have the talent to chase wr’s for 5-6 seconds.Yea that's where I am, I was expecting one or two losses going into the year. I would add Ohio state to that list. We have been getting destroyed by teams with no name WRs I can't imagine teams known for having good WRs.
Not only that but 2 of their TD passes came when Alston whiffed with a clear shot on their QB. Just a weird night all-around and the canes still win!VT had 188 passing yards on 20/34 attempts, for an average of 5.5 Yards per pass. Cocaine is a mutha Fuqa..People seriously thought we were going to blow out every team.
You don’t just go from being total àss for 20 years to then suddenly turn into the most dominant team in football.
This is a good yet flawed team. Just win. Don’t care how or by how much as long as we win.
after last night in the UGA and Bama game, outside of Texas, there isn't a team that has been dominant every single game and hasn't shown deficiencies - and i would argue texas hasn't been tested because Michigan looks suspectPeople overlook glaring deficiencies because we won. It never seems to occur to them that it will catch up to them down the road. “Hey, we won”, let’s just ignore what we really sucked at.” A win doesn’t absolve your sins.
What if we don’t get the Hail Mary call and lost? We played the same either way. I bet there would be more tolerance for calling how we played out then. There shouldn’t be any difference. You don’t get extra rainbows and puppies.
