Not afraid, but high floor roster and recruiting competition.

Arguably it's more detrimental if he ends up at VT because he have to play them often, and he would raise their floor.

That said, arguably VT won't matter with additional realignment.

Franklin would be one of the cheapest options available to them. Because any dollar they'd pay is offset from PSU pay. So there really is no reason to pay him much. They could tell him hey we'd sign you to $8M/yr but instead we'll put that $8M into NIL and PSU will cover that $8M... basically.

if they put his 8mil in nil then there nil for there team would then be 8.5 million.

they are a poverty program.

The PSU contract is pretty aggressive in its offset clause.

I think if Franklin were coaching at a P4 program for a $1/year salary he'd have the pedo state lawyers up his *** for failing to mitigate damages.

That would actually be a great job for him. He can recruit and run an organization and VT has winning expectations, but not Natty expectations, so he could potentially build them up and look like an absolute hero. We need another solid team in the ACC and he would put them in the top 3rd of the conference regularly.

Franklin gets a lot of hate but that would be a home run hire for the Hookies and great for the ACC conference
 
Just because of the political state of the CFP and ACC not being top 2, I'd think he'd want to go B1G or SEC. Somewhere where they'll put the dollars in.
 
The ACC (and Miami in general) need VT to get back to a solid 9 win type of team.

Its a good rivalry for us.

They're upping their money and investment in the program. They have a group of boosters that finally put their foot down and said we're not hiring the coach, but we're watching, and if you hire someone without our blessing the funds are going to dry up. If you hire a good coach, we're committed to up our NIL game.

Don't think they ever compete at the top of CFB with NIL but they'll go from a $5M roster to a $10-15M roster. Takes them from where they are with $ with teams like NCST, Houston, Pitt, Cincinnati, etc. to the level of South Carolina, FSU, Virginia, Arkansas level of talent acquisition.
