VT game will tell us what to expect from Enos the rest of the year.

His judgment is what I find most suspect. I don't understand why at any point, he thought with a very green offensive line (if not worse) running pro-style, drop-back, play-action passes was going to be successful. Heck, even the NFL has gotten away from a lot of his philosophies.

I don't care how drunk Bud Foster is, if he is even remotely engaged, it's a plus matchup for VT unless Enos radically changes his gameplan.
Calling this: If Play Action ***** comes out with same approach in games 1-4, Bud Foster will have one of the best games of his career.

The difference is at least now, we run more than two route combinations. The problem with Richt's offense, besides poor quarterback play, was the predictability. They only ran like 3 different types of routes and always in the same combinations.

Exactly. There is no comparison. Many of these designs are excellent. The defense is considerably more gimmicky and susceptible to collapse than we'd prefer to believe. The offense is an underachieving work in progress.

I appreciate any coach who has a logical long term blueprint and sticks to it, instead of desperately playing ping pong based on personnel. The 2019 Canes are a non-factor. Give the recruits a glimpse that tight ends matter. Fullbacks matter. And so forth. That's not going to be popular but I've never given a **** about conformity to appease frothing contemporaries.

Tua is very good on deep drops. He patiently weaves back there before throwing 20-30 yard darts in stride. Then the great receivers do the rest. I do think Enos is expecting far more of that than Williams can ever reasonably deliver. Right now we'd perform best not only with more quick passes but simply getting ready 10-15 seconds quicker. Last week it was glaring that both teams suffered when they dawdled around until 18 seconds or so remaining on the play clock before huddling to call the play. At that point you're getting to the line of scrimmage at 10 and by the time the ball is snapped we're at 1-3.

Time and again it played out that way. Fortunately Central Michigan was more of an offender than we were.

Enos doesn't need a hurry up. Just be more decisive and understand that virtually nobody guards the middle zones in college football. Those quick short pops and slants are available all the time. As soon as you take a deep drop then any competent right defensive end is flying past Zion's left shoulder.

There's a small part of me that hopes we didn't open the playbook much against bethune and CMU to keep our conference opponents guessing. There's a bigger part of me that's punching that smaller part in the face for being a ******* idiot. I really hope we adjust though instead of beating our heads against the wall. VT game can't get here fast enough.
I think we can all relate. That whole "We're being vanilla on purpose and we are holding back the real offense for conference play." Can be a powerful narcotic. Fortunately, I quit that stuff cold turkey. Unfortunately that bullshyt has many in a fentanyl like grip.

It saddens me to say this but we aren't going to see any rational adjustments to the way this goofy staff run the offense. We're not going to all of the sudden start spreading teams out and go with a quick up tempo pass game out of the shotgun that maximizes our talent advantage at the skilled positions. No we are just going to sputter along in this antiquated garbage offense because it's pro style bro! We have to establish the run using 1970s Woody Hayes smash mouth football concepts. Why? Well because that's what all the coaching cliches say!

I realize people are down on the offense and rightfully so, Saturday was awful in so many respects. With that said we are only 4 games into Manny's tenure here and I'm not ready to jump ship even though there are some serious red flags with his game-day coaching.

One of Diaz's strengths as a DC was his willingness to adapt and change to get results. This brings me to Enos and the offense. If we see more slow-developing play-action 8 step drops against VT we are in for another long day. Enos must show that he truly is willing to tailor the offense to the skill set of the QB. Let's see Jarren in the shotgun and spread the offense out a little more. Enos called this offense the spread-coast but I have seen very little spread and packing everything in so tight is killing the running game because our OL is a huge liability. Would also love to see Enos have Jarren use his legs more, Williams needs that internal clock to go off and then take off an get some yardage. If Enos doesn't change anything I will be terribly disappointed.

Honestly I’m going to predict we blow Vt out and look real good doing it and then we lay a stinker vs Va

the thing is he does show it in flashes. It seems he is being variable for the sake of being variable. Under center and shot gun. Tight and wide alignments. I formation, etc. Even though they are not working in certain situations.

It's like he wants to dictate things to the defense but he doesn't yet have the personnel to do what he is trying to do. But I do agree he came here saying he was willing to adapt his offense to his personnel. He should know what he has by now.
This.

We will give up another 10 sacks.

You mean, he couldn't see the obvious from the first 3 games.... he needed one more game versus a pathetic mid major to make up his mind???
You could argue, in good faith, that it may have took a terrible team beating our a$$ for him to recognize that we have issues. I’m not saying he will, but it’s easier to deflect problems when you can use the fact that we played two Power 5 teams as an excuse. That excuse doesn’t work against CMU, though.

Mesh...first down
Mesh...first down
linebackers step up to take the mesh...middle zone for big gain
Now you're in the red zone and cooking and your QB has 10+ yards per attempt.

Thats basically won the past two Heismans and is going to at least have a fourth straight invitation to New York (my money would be on Hurts right now to win it...his metrics are looking out of control right now).

Smart coaches realize what works and what doesn't and adjust, especially during bye weeks. It'll be very telling to see what adjustments are made for next week. Not like Manny and Enos are retarded, they clearly can't be happy with what the offense is doing. So I'd be pretty surprised if no changes are made. We'll see.

VT is garbage. If Enos is challenged by them he should just pack his bags now.

the only thing i am going to post on the offense vs central michigan is that it was pretty clear to me that it was intentionally vanilla. the idea is you line up and beat a team like that with the most basic offense and if you can't then you have other issues. i wouldn't put much stock in lack of scheming vs CM. totally agree the next two home games will tell us exactly what kind of team we are going to have the rest of the year.

Enos said he would base the offense off the personnel, that hasn't been the case and truly needs to change. We need far more shotgun and spread sets with easy reads for Jarren so he can get the ball out quick.

Couldn't agree more. If he runs hard play-action on 3rd and 9 again with this OL he should be fired on the spot. Learn from your mistakes. That's what smart people do. Not commit the same ones over and over again.

And if VT doesn't show us, then VA will.

We're running out of season here.
Right... lol. I think that last game gave us a pretty good picture of what to expect. Gonna have a struggle with EVERY game the rest of the way. We'll win some, but definitely lose some as well. None will come easy. Another fvcked up season.
