Getting solid minutes out of Casey.

For all the people that complain about us saying stuff about refs, that last play was a perfect example of why we have an issue. Even though his arm wasn't fully extended, it's obvious he pushed off. L said something, let's see if it pays off. I doubt it.

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t have a great feeling about this game. We shot well and caused a bunch of TO and have a one point lead.

This is a tough game as Miami is coming off a 3 game road stretch, playing a much better team than their record. They are actually higher in NET rankings than Clemson I think.

As good as Miami shot VT shot it even better..

We’re at 33% from 3 and they’re at 57% from 3. They’re also shooting better from the field.

I feel you but the stats aren’t exactly in line. Omier’s 3rd is the biggest problem.

This team has regressed so much defensively year over year

Let's look at numbers.

Points allowed

2022-2023--69.5 (182nd of 363)
2021-2022--70.4 (214th of 358)
2020-2021--71.0 (198th of 347)
2019-2020--73.2 (283rd of 353)
2018-2019--71.1 (170th of 353)
2017-2018-- 67.9 (60th of 351)
2016-2017--64.1 (24th of 351)

Outside of some outlier years, the D has been average to slightly below average in comparison to their peers most years. The years where the D has been above average have been years where L had multiple defensive minded bigs, or some elite perimeter defenders. It's not an accident that the years Miami had Davon Reed and K. Murphy on the roster were some of the better years defensively. If you go back even further, when L had Jekiri, the defensive rankings were good.
