VT at MIA (-3.5) 7PM Tuesday 1/31/2023 ESPNU

A couple positives are he's shooting 84% from the line and averaging 1.3 turnovers a game (Sure feels like 4 a game lol). He needs to get to the hoop more and draw fouls. We are 19th in the country in FT %. Get to the hoop and draw fouls.
Excellent FT shooting has been a welcome, consistent staple of Canes teams, going back to when Leonard Hamilton arrived.

The shared Big East championship we had 20 or so years ago featured a bunch of one and two point wins. We were regularly outscored from the field but won those games at the line.

If you have inferior talent, top rate FT shooting is a must; when you have talent, like now, it's still critical. Memphis liikely lost a couple NCs because they had way too many bricklayers on those teams when it came to FTs. Kudos to the coaches and players for the work they so obviously put in.

A couple questions after finally watching the game

1. Why don’t we feature Jordan Miller more in the offense like we did the first half against Pitt (and amazingly not the 2nd half)? He always seems to get a good shot for either himself or someone else. He can score at all 3 levels and this year he has become very effective finishing with his right hand. To me Miller is a matchup nightmare, but our team and coach L seem to defer too much to Wong. Not that Wong isn’t good but he takes a lot of contested shots where everyone in the arena knows he is about to shoot.

2. How is VTech 3-8 in the ACC? They can shoot, even if this game was a bit of an outlier, and they have good size,

They sent out a Watsco Center code of conduct email as a follow up to that fan being ejected last night

Agree. You look at the last half-dozen or so struggle-prone games (especially if you skip FSU) you can see Miller really outshines Wong on major stats: turnovers, FG percentage, assists, rebounds... so seems more Miller time (on offense) would be an excellent development. As for why not, not sure we will get an objective response.
