Vols Tears

I think they did the right thing. But their fans better hope venables doesn’t flame out this season cause if so, heupel is 100% going back to Norman to coach OU. In the matter of a year and some change, they could go from the playoff to being the same ole Tennessee we all know post fulmer.
Then Peyton Manning would complain because Tennessee is a destination.

And this makes sense, because once a player doesn’t perform his NIL obligations, the university can stop paying him. And can provide that money to a different player. NIL is a not a guaranteed contract like pro sports.

The really interesting situation which has yet to play out to my knowledge, would be in Nico stopped playing but still performed his NIL obligations, thereby fulfilling his contract. he would still demand to be paid. The university would most certainly argue that the value of the players NIL has been diminished by not playing and would try to keep some/most/all of the money.

I know for most of you things like I have written is a reason you hate lawyers. But for lawyers these kinds of facts make for very interesting cases, and we often root for disruption.

Actually UT did the wrong thing and paid this guy millions already.

They are just not adding to their mistake. Better than nothing but it does not erase the original mistake.
True, but it falls under cut your losses and don’t allow someone to hold you hostage.
And if the reports are correct about how much we offered Rashad’s, we’re just as dumb or dumber than UT. UF did us a big favor.
This is why I have no issue using the portal for proven QB’s, IF our recruits don’t step up, but I’d never spend that kind of money on a crap shoot at QB for a high school kid, unless the coaching staff is 110% positive a kid is the second coming of Kelly, Kosar, Ward, Walsh etc.
I just don’t think you can ever be 110% certain at QB. Too many intangibles in play outside of physical traits.

Definitively a lot of luck involved and I’m sure UM will be on the wrong side of it at some point.

I agree with every position you have taken.

Ohio state is on the hook.
“How do we keep J Smith if our freshman qb looks like cheeks?”

Haven’t kept track of Ohio State’s business. But how does their new QB look?
Doesn’t matter he’s getting paid and the nfl sees the talent even without the numbers. He ain’t going anywhere and will get drafted high even if he sits out for two seasons. They look at potential not stat sheets

Heard Larry Bluestein say on Donno show him & his family are considering sitting out his Jr year. Would be crazy to throw a million or 2 away when he'll probably go top 5 even if injured. But he definitely doesn't need more tape

I agree , the issue the team who recruited ward he left for money . So it goes to what you’re saying . I like getting those one and done kids because most likely in year 4 he will ask for more than what you get one out the portal for .

I love it. Flying back over the summer to Knoxville Children's Hospital ads and visits, bye week in front of Avery atop THE HILL doing awkard PILOT FLYING J co spots with Rick Barnes wearing a bright Volunteer orange tear away with an Oregon ducks t-shirt underneath.

Hey pay me. You're talking hundreds of thousands so it has to cross their minds. Only wondering if new obligations are written with stop all your current **** language

Interesting thought I love

If they win another natty and he has another dominant season….you can argue he would be stupid to play his junior season.

Outside of a career ending injury, which is so rare it's not a valid concern, I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion. If he's fine with tossing a year's worth of earnings away then great cuz **** osu but there is no logic to it.

It’s not a career ending injury it’s any sort of serious injury that impacts the ability to reach full professional potential.
