About the character and toughness of this defense and our squad overall. We were up 28-10 with under 4 minutes to go and everyone knew the game was in hand and that a VT score was basically meaningless. Well, meaningless to some teams but not this one. Our defense relentlessly pounded the hokies and was absolutely determined not to let them score. Even with 2 pass interference, a face mask on 4th down and a roughing the passer penalty along with the 4 free 1st downs the hokies were awarded this defense refused to let them score.

You could sense during that last series that it wasn't about the game or the score anymore. It was personal. It was man vs man for prides sake and we wouldn't budge. The last play of the series, the end zone interception by Redwine had a very distinctive " ***** You!" Feel to it. That was impressive. That was Hurricane Football. Loved that series, love the game, love this defense and this entire team. Everyone of those kids made us proud Saturday night. This is what we have been missing for far too long. It's so awesome to see Miami Football coming back!

Ditto. The fans felt that way too. No one left until it was 0:00 on the clock. I loved every minute of it.

As Jimmy Johnson said before the 85 Notre Dame game:"Pour it on em!!"

I loved how at the end this defense was just coming downhill and punishing the Hokies. They built momentum and wouldn't let up off the gas pedal. This is how you create championship habits

It really created even more momentum going into Notre Dame week

I really thought they were going to kill Jackson that last series. And Wimbush is talking trash lol

Hated the face mask call. I’m pretty sure that Philips should have been declared down before he got up and started running and then was facemasked.

YES!!! I was thinking the same. The kids didn't seem concerned about the game anymore, it was about beating up VT.

I haven't seen that type of attitude and physical dominance in a big game since the 2001 title game.

Yes!!!! Ive been telling my friends this. That right there is the turning point for this team. Those last couple minutes, they played as if they didnt want the game to end. They just wanted to keep the *** whooping going. I havent seen that in probably 15 years. Were good enough to beat anybody. And im not sure any other team in the country wants it as bad as us. Wer back

Our kids were playing with the same intensity from the first snap to last snap. Fuentes was responsible for getting the **** beat out of his QB by not throwing in the towel.

Diaz was still blitzing and it was great. Herbie even mentioned it in the broadcast on showing a sign to college football or something like that.

Diaz’ refusal to give them any momentum despite all the BS was a beautiful thing to watch. He could have played from the heels of got caught up in the emotion of the refs but he literally said “not on my watch mother****ers”

Diaz continuing to blitz that mf'er on the final drive was a thing of beauty. No quarter given.

Super proud of the team for its physicality end to end. They were trying to punish VT. Love that.

We were way too soft under the past regimes. Must get back to making teams fear us.

Instead of easing off and starting to celebrate they played like the game was on the line, and I loved every minute of it. And it wasn't just Diaz. He can call blitzes, but the players have to play with urgency, and they did. That's discipline that doesn't just show up, they've been practicing that for 2 years now and it's really starting to show.

Was amazing.

This was our best defensive performance since VT 2005 imo.

Complete domination for start to finish.

That last drive was a thing of beauty, we just destroyed that QB. We need to do the same this week against Wimbush, he's been hurt and missed game time at least twice this year. We need to knock this kid out of the game.

I am still confused as to why he was allowing that to happen. Were they going to score a 19 point TD?
