(Video) He Went From Gold Teeth to a Gold HOF Jacket! (What Happened To Edgerrin James?)

As Great as Edge was that game...Covington played an unbelievable game. That throw to Santana was a beautiful pass.
Wow you‘re taking me back, forgot about that one as well! Covington threw that across his body from what our own 15-20 to Santana for the TD! UCLA came out blazing at the beginning of second half, can’t believe we came back. That squad, Al Blades, Dan Morgan, Santana, EReed, Edge…..ah man, great memories.

How many of y'all thought Edge would go before Ricky Williams in the 99' draft?
Many of us thought he should be drafted ahead of Williams.
Williams was a great runner
Edge was a great runner, receiver and blocker. He was simply the better running back to anyone with a brain, which apparently does not include Mike Dinka’s dumb ***.

Not me. They were both great in their own way, but Ricky had the Heisman and I think people just assumed he’d go before Edge.

I wish Edge never tore his ACL (back then the recovery isn’t like it is today) and I wish Ricky never decided weed was more important than football.
In that Shannon Sharpe interview he said football was never difficult for him until he tore his ACL. Said he put the work in but it all came easy to him. That’s crazy to think about for what he accomplished up to that point.

SN: His son Edgerrin Jr “Jizzle” is killing it in basketball here in Orlando. Him and Bo Outlaw’s son play together at Olympia HS. He’s a Cincinnati committ (c/o 2023).

Does Edge’s son also play football? Either way, he needs to be a Cane bball or football.

Believe it or not, Sharpe almost transferred to The U.

Bro, Edge was a f’ing problem. Dude was a complete back, & that’s taking off my O&G biased glasses. Pre-ACL, Edge was on pace for 15k rushing & most likely 20k all purpose yrds. I truly wished he had got a ring, but I’m glad he got his HOF ring.
The year he left Indy, we won the ship lol. Edge was invited to Indy's team locker room during the Super Bowl in Miami. He was given a SB ring a few weeks later as a gift from Irsay. Irsay also inducted him into the Hall of Fame. Dem two is tight. A lot of people dont know Edge's nickname was "sweet feet" lol. He was my idol when i played rb in my days, graduated in 01. I wore #5 for Edge, and wrote sweet feet on my nike vapor d's lmao.

Yeah I know; they won the SB at my expense as a Bears fan. Lol. It was bitter sweet b/c I wanted Edge to get a ring & he wasn’t there, but I was happy that Wayne got his. I just knew we would be back the following yr b/c we were young & I wasn’t too concerned about us getting back. BOY WAS I WRONG! Lol.

The beginning of the comeback when I thought UM was dead after probation. That game was the spring board to what was to come.
It was incredible to see. My kids are in their early 20’s and just don’t understand what it was like. That performance alone was enough to make you a fan for a long time.

One of the best games I ever attended was the UM vs UCLA upset at the OB when he dominated the game w/ over 200 yards.

Side note: First dude I ran into when I first arrived on campus. Difficult to ever forget, dreads, gold teeth, intimidating af.
I was also at that game with a friend. After the first few carries by Edge, I told everyone around us that I'd give him the ball until he fell. He was just dominant that day and it's one of the best performances I've ever witnessed in person.

Had no idea Derwin was Edge’s lil cousin. That family is hella deep.
Let me tell you how deep: I played against Walter James at Immokalee in 1969 my first start as a soph; he made it with my Tarpon teammate Burton Lalwess to the Cowboys but didn't make the roster (my buddy was the only rookie starter in SB that year against the Steelers). My three sons played Pop Warner through high school against great James family running backs from Immokalee in the early 2000s. Edgrin showed up at the Fish Bowl for a game, signed autographs, and took pictures with everybody who wanted one. Class act.

Oh we talking legacy, legacy w/ The James’! Wow! Thanks for sharing, bro! That’s outstanding.
