Video: Brad Kaaya vs. Georgia Tech

Kaaya's 2nd throw in the video is the reason I chuckle everytime the blowhards on here tell me that Kaaya doesn't have the arm strength. I've seen a few throws this year already that should have put that to rest, but there will still be plenty of dumbasses on here spewing the same garbage.

When Kaayaa has a clean pocket and time to throw with nobody in his face he is elite

When he is rushed or faces pressure he turns from Brad Kayaa to Brad KaKaa
Which could be said about 99% of QBs in America.

I would say 95% ANd we hope to have a QB in the top 5% correct?? I mean if hes suppose to be this 1st round pick he is top 5% in the nation that means he is one of the top 5 qbs in college

True, but those 5% usually are athletic rushing QBs like Watson and Jackson. Even Peyton Manning looks pretty bad when he is under pressure
Thats true but take a QB like Chad Kelly he can get pounded and still never gets skittish in the pocket... cant say that for Kayaa.. he gets rattled easily

Remember his uncle was suppose to be a LB. Kelly's are rough tough fighting types. Brad is more brainy type a la Kosar. I love Jim but no NC and no Suer Bowl rings. Vinnie was beast QB also, and heck of a runner. Got Heisman, two NC games but NO NC. Brad start running around and we will find out what live without him is like in short order. Kid is pocket passer like all or NC QBs. I want another NC. Keep that beast fullback in game more to protect him -- maybe use him in a draw play to shake up defense. 280 LBS with head of steam would be fun to watch. Kid is great with a clean pocket, let's give him a clean pocket and stop campaigning for types of QBs other teams have won NC with and be happy with one like the the FIVE that won our NCs.

What's so crazy about this is that he graded out last year better than Watson vs the blitz and I believe pressure overall. This year he seems much more easily rattled.

Looks comfortable in SG. RBs run well out of shotgun.

This team is built for shotgun. Richt can build his power I game some other week - but this isn't the time for it.

This! Most completions save the pass to TE that he broke down the sideline were out SG. Looks very comfortable out of SG. Conversely rollouts to the left were not pretty. Lastly as noted numerous times we have yet to see use of middle of the field and TE running seam routes much Njoku did most of last year...

Brad has to be the hardest scrutinised QB in america. Alot of times guys are getting beat and he's about to throw and gets hits. At the same time, it's like there is a ton of incompletion. I just don't see it. Brad has some of the best numbers v FSU of any Miami QB and that's with Pruitt as DC and tons of NFL players. People start over each year doubting him for every little thing simply because he can't run. SMH

Only thing I can say about Brad is at times I wish he would make a decision sooner when the play breaks down. Instead of waiting for something to develop. Dump it off quick and move to the next play

This is not true and Kayaa lately needs a complete clean pocket and seems to get rattled very easily at the first sign of distress. He didnt always used to be like that but maybe it was the clemson concussion or something but he doesnt seem to trust the oline and more times than not even if its a slight breakdown that most qb could navigate (and I am not talking elite scrambling qb) he seems to get a little panicky.

Kyle Wright took a pounding and was never the same after it. he showed flashes every now and then but against decent competition would fold very quick. I hope Kayaa hasnt reached that point. Because truth be told against top competition you cant expect a clean pocket all game, you have to be able to shuffle, climb pocket, buy some time, even immobile qb like tom and peyton can do that. Kayaa got to stop seeing ghost and ball out. I hope he can

I disagree Brad Kaaya is a good qb but his lack of awareness and bad footwork in the pocket prevents him from taking it to the next level. He isnt able to evade sacks and he isnt able to step away from the pressure and get off a good throw. For someone so limited in his mobility he needs to be great at those things.

I saw at least 3 drops and one where the pressure got to him before Walton came free for the dump off (I would consider this an O line problem not a QB problem). There was also a roll out to the left where the ball got batted by a defender which I'll put on Brad, but I think you could argue that's O line as well. So it looks to me that he missed on maybe 3 passes. Not getting the criticism. My guess is that people want him to light up every game and when he just does his job they feel let down.

Watching the video most pressure seems to come from right side of line.. Seems they tried to shuffle some guys in also not sure if that helped

I want to see Kaaya run a hurry up out of the Gun the whole game against the Noles.

Totally agree. He can be deadly when there's no pass rush, or it's not a pressure situation in the game.

Some players shrink under pressure, some players get bigger under pressure. Kaaya hasn't shown he can step up under pressure so far in his career.

That last 3rd down pass in the GT game at the 5:01 mark is a perfect example. Yes, rolling him to his left was a dumb call, but he had all day to make a smart decision. Eat the sack. Throw it away. DO NOT hold it that long then force a bad pass into a crowd that was well short of the 1st down anyways. You just can't risk a turnover there.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt now that he's a Junior and working with Richt.

But he hasn't carried us to victory in a tight game yet. The next 5 games are gonna be tough. Kaaya leading the team in pressure situation is going to be the difference in our season IMO.

Someone please hand me that reverse-rollout left play ...
So I can do to it what Belushi did to that dude's guitar in Animal House.

Very solid. Only knock is really the last pass. Both the play call and Brad's execution. He should have thrown it in the stands way before he got hit.

For the reason stated above, Kaaya will be back next year and even better. As crazy as it may sound, I feel like he could benefit from some flag football...:fistbump2:

That scrutiny primarily comes from Canes fans... Everyone else holds Brad in pretty high esteem.

Don't understand the harsh criticism for Kaaya on this site.

Also trying to figure out how we got so many QB gurus on here.

The oline is poor and that's not helping him. One of the main complaints is that Kaaya is throwing mediocre to poor passes than are caught by the receivers. I have to say that the WRS are making Kaaya seem better than he really is.
