You must be extremely naive to think its not strenuous, other obligations include life's general bs

I didn't say it wasn't strenuous. That's you making stuff up. I said the strains are overrated. For the vast majority of these guys its the greatest time of their life.

Your other obligations sound like self-inflicted drama. No different than every other person walking this Earth. Nothing unique to a college football player.

We could use as much help along the line as possible. Looks like we got someone who can, at the very least, contribute.

Also, lol@ anyone who thinks it's standard for college athletes to graduate in 3 years.

Mahoney imo was beter than Gaynor last year

I thought he played surprisingly well. I just like running my mouth. Never assumed he'd contribute. I was wrong. Nothing personal. I'm an idiot. Mahoney. Think of Police Academy every time. Haha

Of course most athletes wouldn't trade their experience for anything, but what does this have to do with your argument about D1 athletes only spending 20 hours a week on their sport? You're way off base here Morrisey.

Because someone tried to claim that it's a full-time job (despite only listing what amounts to part-time hours) and has "other obligations" as well.

The strains on these players are vastly overrated by the couch potatoes of the world.

It's a full time job. I played mid-major D1 baseball. I don't need to lay out my typical in-season schedule for you to prove anything to someone that just signed up for this site and has only been attacking what people say while providing no substance to the site. The hours an athlete puts in and the hours the NCAA considers "countable" hours are two different things.

Grad transfer after 3 years of college....impressive

im not trying to trash the kid, but most CFB players can graduate in 3 years. especially if they enroll early.
120 credits to graduate

summer before freshman year 6-12 credits depending on whether they enroll before summer A or B
15 credits per semester x6 for 90 credits
12 credits summer between freshman and sophomore
12 credits summer between sophomore and junior year.

that gets you to 120+ credits after 3 years without being an EE.

this is the standard plan for most CFB players. you have some kids who need more help to keep up who only take 12 credits per semester but most kids have done enough to graduate by their 3rd year. that's why berrios was taking 2 classes per semester his senior year because he had already done more than enough to graduate but needed to be taking 6 credits to stay eligible to play.

That must be why so many early entries to the draft have degrees. General population in college today doesn’t graduate in three years, or four for that matter, so let’s not dismiss this as something as easy as running the numbers on credits. I received my Doctorate six years out of high school. No problem in theory, even working 40 hrs a week like I did, but gets a little hard in real world where eating and sleeping want some time. Wish any of mine had done it three years. I could take that extra money to the casino.

you are forgetting one key variable. that last semester. the kids who leave for the draft drop out after the fall semester of their junior year to focus on the draft. so they are usually 10-15 credits short of a degree. I'm not just running numbers of what I think happens with these kids. I am literally going by what UM did with its football players when I was working for the program. the one thing I messed up on is that often players will only take 12 credits during football season.

but now we are way off topic and thats my fault. main point of this thread is that its great we got a OL with 2 years of eligibility left

Just to be as..., so you’re wrong. Your little mistake leaves them 9 credits short. Plus, the fact is those early draft type are just drop outs. Got numbers on how many credits they take and earn that last season. Hate to pick on fellow cane but how long did it take you to get your 4 year degree?

Even if it is just a depth guy. Give me this dude over Hayden Mahoney and that dude AQM bull rushed the soul out of

Hayden Mahoney is the key to our NC run next season.

He is going to anchor the DL. The next Ryan Fines.

Mahoney imo was beter than Gaynor last year
Gaynor was a victim of expectation based on hype. He did some good stuff, but really struggled in spots. He's a guy who could have really used a RS. F* it. He got PT and hopefully gets stronger and cleaner in pass pro.

i thought he shouldve shirted as well. I thought he would have a huge adjustment to the strength seeing as he played in the weakest division in broward talent wise. Not saying he sucks...just wouldve been great had our upperclassmen other than Mahoney stepped up allowing us to shirt him...

One question? Have you ever played college football? I have, and that 20 hours is a joke. From mandatory sessions and groups on top of not being able to make the same “college kid” choices/mistakes like your peers. Not to mention you having to schedule your classes around those 20 hours and loading up credits to stay on track.

If you’ve played and the 20 hours were light to you then so be it.

BREAKING: Tennessee backup guard Venzell Boulware quits team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee sophomore guard Venzell Boulware announced on his Twitter account that he’s leaving the Tennessee football team.

Boulware’s tweet read: “I would like to thank the University of Tennessee for giving me the opportunity to play here throughout the years. After much prayer and consideration with my family, I’ve decided it’s best for me to pursue other options away from UT for the remainder of my collegiate career. Thanks to all who supported me and thanks to the wonderful fans of Vol Nation. God Bless!”

Boulware is a 6-foot-3, 306-pound redshirt sophomore from Union City, Ga., who made his first start this season in the Vols’ 17-13 win against Massachusetts on Sept. 23.

Boulware, who started three games in 2016, was not listed as a participant in Tennessee’s loss to Georgia last Saturday.

Coach Butch Jones said the bye week would make or break the Vols.....
