Venables Head Coach?

Malzahn sat him down because Malzahn wanted to call his offense. Not because Lashlee wasnt ready.

Lashlee took over the playcalling on multiple occasions and the offense performed much better. The problem was that Lashlee wanted to do more of his stuff and less of Malzahns stuff, which is essentially what led to Lashlee going somewhere else.
Did you watch the gam lashlee called Saturday night? Exactly.

Venables is Bud Foster all over again., except he makes more.

The guy will be up for HC gigs every year but will probably be content as a DC and who could blame him. He's at a top program winning and making big time money without the headache.

Didn’t Miami consider him to replace Coker, or was it Shannon?

I tend to agree.

There's something to be said for being able to avoid the Peter Principle.

They defense can still be gashed venables been exposed before I expect to see atleast 2 or 3 games where they sweat a bit especially if DJ not doing well at some point.. keep the defense on the field as long as you can they say lol

But what job would be worth it? Kirby waited it out until georgia came calling. Brent might as well do the same. Unless he wants to be a championship bud foster
Werent they top contenders for at least three or four years? Why now? That’s the very, very odd thing about Clemson. They’ve been as active as Alabama in making the CFP, yet neither of the coordinators leave. At Alabama, there hs been tremendous turnover.

So why now? Perhaps Saban is retiring after this year. Then Dabo goes to Alabama, leaving one of these two to become HC at Clemson.

It’s possible. Saban can’t coach forever. When he finally hangs it up, Dabo will definitely be on their short list of guys to replace him.

Saban just got an extension through 2028, so not likely this is his last year or he retires anytime soon

Nick Saban turns 70 in October. Yes, perhaps he'll coach to age 77. Perhaps longer. But also, perhaps he's set a period (70 years) or goal (say another NC) where he decides that there is more to life than running a professional football operation. Or even that there are new challenges to be explored in life.

Do you think the fact that he was such a failure at the NFL level twice he would want to give it a go 1 more time before he croaks?

You're giving him too much intellectual credit and assuming too much intellectual curiosity. He's a West Virginia hillbilly at his core as is "Miss Terry". He won't do anything beyond coach college football, maybe do a little tv work (because he does love money), go to his lake house and then die. He's a less intelligent version of Joe Paterno....minus the child *** scandal.

Harsh but true. The only way you’ll see nick after he retires if he turns down tv gigs is if you own a boat because he’s going fishing every day for the rest of his life. And the funny thing is he probably won’t even mention football in day to day convos that often

This is wildly wrong. Saban is smart, focused, driven and an exceptional manager and planner.
