Arch Manning’s first pass of the game where he was completely uncontested, but threw the ball in the dirt was all I really needed to see against the so called “Heisman front runner”. I never for a second thought he’d be good. The fact he didn’t start over Ewers last year in his 2nd collegiate season was a red flag everyone ignored. This isn’t 1995 where good QB recruits sit behind seniors. The best ones play ASAP because every coach at every top program has a knife to their throat with the University saying “win now or else”. There’s 0 loyalty, but a lot of buyouts and failed coaches making absurd amounts of money.
So you’re admitting after the first snap you thought OSU was better and nothing could’ve changed your mind after that. That’s all I needed to hear.

60-70 passing yards going into the 4th down 14-0. That’s ball game and garbage time. Not exactly what I consider a close game in any sense. To each their own!

Why do you keep mentioning pass yards only? Texas out rushed OSU by more than double. I’m not sure how the losing team could do these things and only lose by 7 and it not be a close game.

-Won the box score
-More trips into the opponents red zone
-64% post game win expectancy

Texas lost bc Sark was garbage in the red zone. That’s it.

We can debate this all day and how we brought this on ourselves, but one thing is certain: Scheduling aggressively OOC doesn't mean a **** thing.

You'd think Miami would get something for daring to play Notre Dame, Florida and South Florida OOC. Nope, we would have been better off beating on pure trash and running up the score. The fact that ACC, Big XII and G5 teams have to go **** near undefeated, just to have a shot is a joke, because going undefeated in the regular season doesn't happen that often. People act like it's easy to do that, especially in a college football world where talent parity is higher than ever.

At this point, it's tough to give a **** about this stuff, because ultimately, unless you do something that happens for most schools once a lifetime, it's very likely you won't get in unless you fit some kind of narrative.

You aren't impressed with Texas?!

Non conference:
#1 OSU (L)
2-7 UTEP from the G5 (W)
3-6 San Jose State from the G5 (W)
1-8 Sam Houston State from the G5 (W)

Texas dropped out of the polls entirely after losing to 3-6 UF.

They got back in at #22 a week later with a 4-2 record after beating Oklahoma.

Since then they've moved up 11 spots for beating:
4-5 Kentucky 16-13 in OT
5-5 Mississippi State in OT
8-2 Vanderbilt, which I posted about above

Is that not the resume of the #11 team in the country???
Hey, don’t forget thats a QUALITY LOSS TO THE SEC FIGHTING GATORS.

I understand your point, but I am not sure I agree as it relates to Miami/ACC teams in general. The quality non-conference wins are basically what will give us a chance this year if we win out because conference wins and losses are rarely going to be considered "quality" wins or losses. The SEC/B1G teams really don't need that benefit because virtually every game they play in conference is going to be considered a quality game. 13 of the top 25 is SEC and B1G teams.

I guess if you run the table it probably does not matter. And I agree the committee could scew us regardless. But I'm not sure we're even in the conversation with 2 ACC losses without the ND/USF wins.

It’s more about Texas being in the SEC and ESPN’s contract with the conference. It’s that simple.

The same exact thing would happen to us if we were to join the SEC.
It’s possible, though don’t see Miami cast as the good guys. Manning - or Arch as the TV folks call him - was one of the good guys & a darling before setting foot on campus. Didn’t matter if he was playing in Big 12 or SEC.

We had our chance to stroll into the CFB and screw3d the pooch...

Both of us are 7-2.

Both have, at some point, been talked about as a possibility to go to the national championship.

Only one of us has been unranked at any point this season.

Teams relying on the run game take longer to score, if they score. If they get down by 2 scores in the fourth quarter, it makes it very difficult to overcome. If anyone should know that, it’s Miami.

10000000000000%.

As expected, USF is back in the Top 25. So that gives us two wins over teams currently ranked. That might be more or at least equal to every SEC clown team ahead of us in the ranking right now.
