Valentine Thread: Set to visit this weekend....maybe.

Pete, what do you think is the major reason we are losing out on so many local studs? Is it scheme? Winning? Staff? Lack of relationship with handlers/coaches/community influences? Money? all of the above?

Relationships.

Relationships with?

Coaches/Handlers

For as much as people hate the term "handler", this is how the recruiting game is played today and I'm not talking about paying them. Yearby would not be a Hurricane if not for the relationship between Coley and his handler. That's just how it works.

So does this staff not know the culture to be able to develop these relationships? Are they stubborn and think they can do it their way? Are they trying but just failing? They have to see what they are doing is not working from a local talent perspective. And granted we have gotten some of the big guys from down here but lets be honest we have missed on way more than we should be.

They know there is something wrong and they are working on fixing it.

Come on dudes, how much more could have been done with this kid except throwing $$$... He has been promised EVERYTHING...!!!

So you are confirming we are in fact hiring Ice Harris.

Thanks for the insight Pete

Relationships with handlers? Lol. Genron is a ******* leech looking for money. Time to stop tip toeing around the obvious

If relationships are the issue in year 4 then we have issues recruiting wise that are as bad as our current defense.

I picture a caged lion when I hear the term handlers.

Pete, what would you say the relationship usually is between the player and his "handler"? Old coach, family member, current coach, Etc ?

Hmm, relationships? From what we read Hurlie has a friend, relative tied to about every school or kid we're recruiting in S Fl. Just about the same is said to be true of Barrow. Coley has been alleged to be a recruiting guru. Golden has a gift of gab, seems to work the local coaches unlike his stoic predecessor and stages dirt-cheap summer camps.

So Pete, tell us more about this relationship business. Where exactly are we failing? What self-improvement tips might you offer?

Pete is going to protect his boy Genron on this one.

has nothing to do with anything that I posted in this thread

Genron is TVs handler. Pretty clear from everything he posts on twitter that he isn't a fan of the staff or Miami.

Been around long enough in recruiting to know something went down between LSU and TVs people. You yourself said TV was a big time mamas boy, doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. Oh and wasn't Hurlie the closest of any coach to the family?

yup, and just so happens Hurlie has a very strong "relationship" with someone very close to Valentine.... So, you can put the "relationship" effecting TV talk to rest...

youth coach, current coach, or family member are the three normal relationships. What people don't realize is that a lot of these kids would not be able to get around if not for these handlers. The kids need rides for unofficial visits, games, camps. These people are vital in the process.

And folks want to ***** when Al & Co. head north to the friendly Garden State. Probably find it to be like a breath of fresh air.

Per Ryan Bartow

Says he spoke with Mike Tunsil, the coach for 4-star DT Travonte Valentine.

Les Miles will be in on Thursday for his in-home visit.

Valentine's mother lives in Palm Bay (FL). The plan was for LSU and Miami to meet with her this week but as of now that's no longer the case.

Miami's coach Al Golden hasn't set up his in-home visit with Valentine yet.

Says he might have more on Valentine this evening.
