If there's anyone who's a consensus football expert, it's the staff of the New York Times.NYTimes has them listed as one of the most disappointing teams (out of 6) ....based on pre-season expectations.

Thank you for properly spelling VT's abbreviation. This ain’t the Beamers VAg Tech team. We currently have a 3 game win streak against them, & I expect 4 this Friday. This team is trash, & we’re at home.
We roll.
Something just extendido!****, I thought this thread was an early weather report. Oh well, and just because,

Game Preview: Virginia Tech Faces Huge Test At Miami
Coming off a tough loss to Rutgers, Virginia Tech (2-2) faces arguably its biggest challenge of the season on Friday night in the form of No. 7 Miami (4-0)virginiatech.sportswar.com

Even when they tried to poke holes in Miami they couldnt really find much.
It's the only argument anyone has anymore. It breaks down to two things, and every fanbase supporting a team that has played us or is going to play us is saying this:It seems as if they think their only hope is for Mario to do a shtty job preparing and coaching
his team.
I do think they will give us a better game than USF.
My dawg said the “Hokie Pokie”Hokies ain’t seen a cane team like this in decades. Good luck preparing for this team. Canes will be doing the hokie pokie by half.
I have watched VT a decent amount and they're not terrible but neither is USF. If VT and USF played tomorrow it would be a battle. For this game to be close we would have to really sh*t the bed with penalties and turnovers *and* the zebras would have to get into the act. So all possible, but if we play relatively clean and protect Cam I think we're in good shape.
If we had the same numbers and same record with Emory as our qb the thought process is different. But when you have a guy spinning it and is the heisman front runner it just doesn’t seem possible to get the upsetJeez....I mean thats a group of writers who think very highly of us...
