VA Tech

I mean they were down 23-7, and came back to lose 26-23...so they had some fight against Rutgers...the linebackers look to get confused easily the DL looks okay. Drones isn't a great passer, but he's a plus runner. Not sure about anything else. They don't spread it out anywhere near as much as USF, and the tempo is slower...I think we feed them a lot of Tyler Baron, and if healthy a lot of Bain, and Cam should rip them apart and our run game should finish them off...I expect we should keep beat them soundly.

any idea on why the line has shifted so much in 1 day?

mario's comments about rivers and bain?
I think so. I think we'll crush them but 19.5 is a lot of points. And o/u actually went down a couple points to 55. Maybe weather----not hurricane but supposed to be rainy. Probably get the dreaded weather delay

Why do you say that? They did a good job against one of the top RBs in CFB who we are unfortunately aware of first hand. Not arguing, just wondering why you think that way.
Through 4 games they are giving up an average of 181 yards on the ground. It's somewhat early but that puts them at 103rd in the nation in rush yds allowed per game. They give up an average of 4.39 yds per carry which granted is not dreadful but it isn't good.

Regarding Rutgers they stacked vs the run and basically dared Kalikmanis to beat them. Rutgers as a team rushed for 151 yards IIRC but the RU QB was 16-25 269 yds 0TD 0INT and Kalikmanis is a mediocre QB. VT did well vs the run that day specifically vs Monangai as RU ran for 153 yds on 51 carries for 3 yds per rush. Still, rushing defense is not VTs strength. The secondary is the strength of the Hokie defense and they can rush the passer.

VT is trash. I'm honestly not worried about them. USF is a team I would worry about. Honestly I'm just looking to score 50 points for a 4th consecutive game (when was the last time we even had three?) and not get injured.
This year is the first time Miami scored 50 points in three consecutive games.

I'll be surprised if they don't stack the box again, and try to lean on the secondary. Ward having the intelligence and the freedom to get them out of bad plays has been a big difference this year. Cristobal/Dawson not being stubborn about establishing the run has helped too.

I fully expect VT to stack the box like you said. They'll lean on their secondary and that Ryland kid to get some pressure on Cam.

Feels like this time last week people kept mentioning all the blitzing and pressure Cam was gonna face
They bring 5-6 people and we kill them in the flats, slants, with screens, or Cam scrambling for 1st down.

Every team we’ve faced so far has had the exact same game plan. Load the box and try to pressure Cam and they get toasted through the air.

I might be wrong. They might give us a good game. I can't figure out for the life of me why they were picked preseason as one of the ACC dark horses. They were a below average team last year and have looked below average so far this year. I don't remember them doing anything in the offseason to improve their team that much to where they should preseason fringe top 25. The only thing I can think of is that their schedule is even easier than ours. They play nobody outside of us and Clemson.

They were picked as a dark horse because they had so many players coming back. When you have so much returning production, there is an expected jump with experience..

"But it appears they(VT) might have a good rushing defense."

They don't!
Facts. I watched their game against Rutgers. Overall they seem very finesse. Didn't see alot of Physicality from their defense. No knock back.

Their linebackers trigger hard for anything that remotely look like run. Rugter ran the same play a few times catching their linebacker out of position. I think TEs eat this game.

#52 wasn't a very dynamic in the pass rush. I actually think their DTs fuga and peeples are going to be more of a problem.

Also, their DL did not get a lot push against Rutgers. They was few times the Rutgers QB had time to file his taxes back there.
