It's not even close to a slam dunk that Bain comes back this week. Just a gut feeling. Obviously I want Bain to come back this week. Does anyone even know what his injury is/was?
 
Va Tech will bring it so we absolutely should not take them lightly.

Va Tech has some very good athletes on DL and at DB. Their special teams will also be strong (as they have been for 30 yrs). That being said, Miami is likely superior at every position.

Four keys for us are: (i) not to take them lightly; (ii) play disciplined (limit penalties); (iii) protect Cam Ward; and (iv) be alert on special teams.

Any ACC team can beat any other ACC team on any given day. We can absolutely lose with some combo of: (i) an off day; (ii) too many penalties; (iii) turnovers; (iv) multiple sacks of Cam Ward and/or (v) taking them lightly.
 
NYTimes has them listed as one of the most disappointing teams (out of 6) ....based on pre-season expectations.

(vi) DO NOT allow outcome of game to be put in the hands of the ACC officiating hands because they will stick it to us raw.
 
I haven’t watched any VT this year but Monangai only went 26-84 against them. I imagine that was their game plan on defense but it appears they might have a good rushing defense.

Anyways, this team has more talent and it will show over 4 quarters. Short of dumb penalties or turnovers or shooting ourselves in the foot, not sure how VT hangs with us.

Everyone taking shots at Mario and Miami will feel the wrath. Mario takes this **** personally

Listening to Pry presser made it sound like they plan to come after Ward to make him uncomfortable..

Seems like everyone has played us the same way. Load the box and try to disguise when they blitz. Opposing DCs know their only shot is to get to Ward and try to force fumbles/ints. It’s worked generally for stopping our run game, but that’s it.

If we’re honest, only we can beat ourselves. The schedules soft and USF might legitimately be one of our 4 toughest games. VTech is a wounded animal so we just can’t give them life. If we get off to a fast start it’ll be a boat race. I expect a good crowd, I’ll be there flying in on Thursday night.

We have kind of a history of beating ourselves like a drum.
