They beat us too many times and took great pleasure in doing so.We might like a down VT right now, but it adds another dynamic to college football, and especially for the ACC to have Lane rocking again.
Used to love playing road night games there.
Fundraising, sponsorships, ticket sales, facilities for all sports. Then what exactly does the AD do?
Hire the GM, further isolating himself from accountability. Then what exactly does the AD do?
We might as well join the Mac with that mentality. I want to play good teams and I want to beat good teams. They beat us too many times and took great pleasure in doing so.
I don’t want them to ever come back.
I get it...it just seems like these folks have organizational design way off.Fundraising, sponsorships, ticket sales, facilities for all sports.
GM manages football operations and staff which is now about the same size as AD staff.

If you think about, unless they carve away GM position entirely from AD, that role [GM] would/could be higher paid/more "powerful" than their boss [AD].
I suppose that already exists in some Universities where Head Corch/AD is more "powerful" than University President (99.999% academic weak betas).

It's just another way to funnel money from one hand to another and take a lil bit off the top....I get it...it just seems like these folks have organizational design way off.

it's been speculated they would clean house, including the AD...So I guess he means a new GM and is throwing their current GM, Bruce Smith, under the bus. Sad way for them to do an alumni, locally grown dude, and NFL HOFer that's serving in that role
Not that he is anything more than Ed Reed was for Manny at Miami but still something they just announced in June and made a big deal about it
yes. I read that the original budget was around $144 million. The Board was told they needed $200 million to be competitive. From what I recently read VT commits a very small amount to their football program as compared to the top six or seven teams in the ACC.
They had a meeting with the Board of Directors and basically said do we want to be competitive in football or not? If so, we need another, if I recall correctly, 150 million committed to the football program.
They should have fired their AD years ago.it's been speculated they would clean house, including the AD...
