Va Tech Rolling out ambitious ticket program as part of it's financial plan to compete

If memory serves me correctly....Jackie Mars (worth $40B) is VT's sugar mama...

that's alot of candy bars....

She could right a check that would be a rounding error for her and friends to make VT a player in NIL...if she wanted to...

she's also 86 years old which allegedly makes her younger than @fraggle

All this does is show competing programs and potential recruits how far away they are from the norm at this point. It also shows they are completely not aware or don't care at least about their local demographic. Virginia tech is an area of pretty low income families. Good luck coming up with that if it's not directly through sponsorship or other corporate means. If you're counting on that through your fans and attendance you're in a world of trouble.

What is the groundbreaking model? Charge more and people will be more interested than they are now? Explain it to me like I am 5.

they had players sharing merch to work out in short szns ago when fuente was there where were the big money ppl then?.

The fact that they think this above is the way to go to generate money should let you know...they aint got it.

They forked up the money to get Franklin n got that new car smell for these next two classes but that money aint strong like yall really say it is.

the nerds in engineering and computer science or whatever could care less.
He obviously doesn't understand the demographic. Because engineers and such literally won't take one step ever in that stadium.

The White brothers (Danny at Tennessee) and Brian at VT are using similar models and treating their fanbase like cows. Milk every penny out of them.

Tennessee fans hate their AD despite having the most success of anyone in recent memory in all sports.
The question is, is it sustainable? A fan base can put up with large price increases for a short time, but can it put up with it for 30 years?

The issue long-term is that it eventually limits your market. Harley Davidson saw this happen when they initiated rapid price increases. They crowded out a younger generation who turned to other manufacturers and a decade or two hence they were left with a very old fan base. What would have been the younger replacements that were not interested because Harley Davidson was completely out of their price range and had gone onto other competitors.

A similar thing happened with NASCAR. NASCAR rapidly increased their pricing and priced out their traditional base. As a result they too wound up with a very old remaining customer base. Younger fans were never made because their parents couldn’t afford to go to the now very expensive races, and now NASCAR is confronted with the specter of having to go and reduce the size of their stadiums.

I'm not a wrasslin man...

But are you serious?
Yep. After TKO bought it, their head made a point of saying that WWE had failed to adequately price their tickets. He said that Vince McMahon had tried to price for families and had not fully taken advantage of what could be obtained.

And so now it has become a premium product, like so many others.

For all the railing against the flawed legislation, college football is 100% on a course to "NFL" level markets only support model.

One way or another, the sport is getting there.

Arguable far along the path already...

Indiana NIL is not all about one person

About a year or so ago on Reddit, an Indiana fan talked about how flush with cash they have. Said that private donations pay for every single scholarship for the athletic department. Everything else they get is house money. Indiana will never be broke.

Who cares about future generations when you can maximize returns for the next quarter/fiscal year?

Won’t someone PLEASE think of the shareholders?
