Utah-Oregon

Did you watch Bo Nix even play at Auburn? His career passer rating there was 126.2. That would rank 83rd in the country this year. Auburn was happy to let him go. Good quarterbacks don’t transfer from P5 schools they’ve started at for three seasons.
Brian Harsin was his coach...and why would Lanning want him in the first place then?

I saw the kid play plenty. I dont think he was terrible. I thought he was frustrating because you saw games where you were like "Ok thats the guy right there. He can run, he has a good arm, QB son." Then you see the A&M game from 1-2 years ago and just go WTF happened. But then you hear the Harsin stories and that guy clearly did him no favors. Maybe similar to a certain OC this board isnt fond of....

If Oregon beats Oregon State this weekend, they’ll match Oregon’s 10-2 record from last season.
This year and next year should be the best Oregon teams in awhile given the strength along the lines and receivers. McClendon cleaned up out west. He landed 3 of the top 7 WRs a few years ago.

playing p-12 defenses vs SEC defense 90% of it. Coaching 10% of it.
People claimed that Herbert wouldnt be a good qb in the pros and was overrated bc of playing in the "weak pac12." Same thing with Mahomes playing in the "no defense B12." It's such a narrow argument. Bo Nix won't be a high draft pick (probably late day 2 or early day 3 type) but folks are out of their minds if they think coaching hasnt made a HUGE difference in his performance last season vs this one. The Oregon QB Kenny Dillingham has done excellent work turning him around. If it was merely a matter of playing against weak Pac12 defenses vs SEC (which plenty SEC teams had bad defenses last season) then every PAC12 QB should be putting up crazy numbers.

Coaching does help, however relative talent matters more. Same coach who was at FSU for 52-10 against us… I’m just saying it’s never one thing.

how did Bo Nix do in his one matchup against an SEC defense this year?

I'll hang up and listen, thanks

I love this narrative on Bo Nix being this godsend at QB for Oregon like he wasn't ran out of Auburn after being so underwhelming when he was supposed to be their savior.

Bo Nix looks good now, but had a very mediocre career at Auburn before this year. Once again, we're seeing that COACHING matters.
He also has been sacked like 3 times this year. That’s insane

Somehow Lanning and Dillingham knew Nix would do well at Oregon, would fit their O schemes. They were correct. I had no belief that the Ducks would be so good this year, so fun to watch. MC's teams, regardless of the win/loss record, were boring as heck. It was like watching games from decades ago. After games it was always the same "we have to get back to work". I stopped watching post game interviews because they were always the same. MC wants players to fit his scheme for the game. He does not back down from that. So, many Ducks were underutilized and not developed to enhance their talents and attributes. You are seeing that with the Hurricanes.

Sigh.

Do the last 10 years.

Do the last 20 years.

Do the dedication to football.

Do the allocation of resources.

Also, you have the records incorrect.
Can we go 40 years to include all the chips? How far are we allowed to go ? What impact does 20 years ago have on today ? This team was much better last year
