"Only 1,162 fans bought tickets to the Birmingham Bowl from USF...so the school will eat the cost of 8,800 more."

wtsp.com | USF sells 12 percent of ticket allotment for Birmingham Bowl

(FYI: Tampa to Birmingham is only about an hour longer drive than Miami to Tally)

We are not in a position to cast stones about bowl game attendance.

The only thing preventing USF from becoming a first tier program is conference affiliation. If they ever get into a P5, they’ll consistently recruit talent, given the abundance in Florida.

Really? Because a 9-2 Canes team would only sell 1000 tickets of their 10000 ticket allotment to ANY bowl? This constant equivalency people always make to lesser or dirtier programs is tiresome at best.

And USF should NEVER get a major conference invite based on this alone.

Lmao yeah no

Who would in their right state of mind want to go to Birmingham, Alabama? That place is a dump.

Birmingham is an open septic tank of a town, but USF was having a **** of a season this year before they played UCF.

In fact, it was late in the season, I believe they were still undefeated or only had one loss, and I saw they were playing a home game in that tacky pirate ship stadium, and it looked like there were 5-10,000 in the stands. Tops. Keep in mind, this was a team in contention to win their conference and ranked. Not in Al Golden doldrums.

Even when they’re doing well they don’t draw.

It’s hard enough to be a G5, but when you can’t draw when you win, you don’t stand a chance.

Lol. Talk about a false equivalence. 9-2 in the ACC, or any other P5 conference puts the team in a top tier bowl, not some ****** bowl in a Alabama against 6-6 Texas Tech.

How many UM fans would fly to Alabama two days before Christmas to watch us play a mediocre Big 12 team?

This just highlights that there are too many bowls.

We sold our ENTIRE allotment within 36 hrs that time we were 7-5 and played another junk 7-5 Notre Dame team on NEW YEARS EVE in freakin' EL PASO- a place notoriously awful and a ***** to fly in and out of. But yeah, keep making excuses why more than 1000 USF fans can't make the DRIVE to their game 2 days BEFORE Christmas for a 9-2 team. Yep. Same as us. Exactly.

Saying USF will always be a 2nd tier program is like saying water is wet.

A very naive statement. Need I remind you that up until the Schenellenberger era the same was being said about Miami. With the right coach and AD emphasis the stars could align again for South Florida. There's plenty of talent in the state. While the odds of it happening are pretty small, never say never.
