Fox sports says they are about to make a decision.

"A decision by South Carolina's football program this past week indicates the hiring of a new head coach should be finalized soon.

A source told FOXSports.com that Gamecocks assistant coaches were told to stop pursuing commitments from high school players. Such a move was done to keep scholarships open for recruits that the new head coach would want to pursue".

That if they want to hire without interview. I guess they could hire someone without personally talk to him although I find that unusual. The way to do it during the season is to get the AD's permission to interview the coach. We don't know if a request to get a permission was granted. Those are usually confidential.
