USC tears...

Interestingly enough, when Howard Schnellenberger took over UM in 1979, he stated that within 5 years he was going to make UM the "USC of the East". Reminiscent of the late Lefty Driesell vowing to make the UofMaryland the "UCLA of the East".
Anyways, when Schnells made that claim, it seemed very ambitious at the time as USC was absolutely loaded during the 1970s. They had ballers everywhere including Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, Don Mosebar, Anthony Munoz, Marcus Allen, Keith Van Horne, etc. But Schnells was right, winning the National Championship in 1983.
Lots of talent in that state. I don't blame Mario for recruiting it hard.

Similarly, our great baseball programs had plenty of California kids....from Ron Fraser to Jim Morris.

Have we gotten so many Cali kids like this ever? Seems last couple years we got Lowe, Vance, Eli, Donte. Lotta Cali kids joining lately. I know we've had Cali kids but lately it seems like more than ever.

So do they think when Mario got a Kayvon Thibodeaux, a kid from LA, who was USA Today National Defensive Player of the Year to come to Oregon over USC as a first year HC he would somehow establish less relationships in Cali?

That him coming home to UM he’d stop tapping in with the coaches he knows and recruiting that area? Or are they dumb enough to think him being in Cali is all new?

Forgot about Bubba Bolden. I thought he was going to be special for us.

USC has no excuse not to be resurgent like Miami. Riley needs to get them into the CFP by 2027. I actually expect him to pull it off now that he's found religion in putting together a decent defense.

I know this is a tears thread and I should be laughing at them. I've just never hated USC like I hate the Gators, Domers, Taint and the Noles. And I still think firing Kiffin after losing to Arizona State and not letting him back on the bus ride home is one of the funniest stories in college football lore.
