USC opts out of bowl game

USC is opting out b/c Helton is trying to save himself. While some Canes fans were saying our winning record was a fluke due to some fortunate moments, SC fans weren’t buying the living on the edge Helton Trojans. He was already on the hot seat. If they lose to both Oregon & a bowl game, it’s w/ utmost certainty he’s canned. This is a PR move on his part to shine the last moment of getting SC to #13th, in a Pac-12 game, and w/ only “one” loss.

But hey only Miami players are exhausted and have excuses. There really might only be 10 bowls max this year.

This has zero to do w the players, champ. If u notice who’s opting out of bowl games, it’s coaches on hot seats or their season was utterly embarrassing. Lol.

Here’s the teams that’s opted out:
UCLA (Kelly is on the hot seat)
USC (Helton is on the hot seat)
PSU (One of the programs worst seasons)
FSU (A disgrace)
VT (Fuentes is on the hot seat)
GT (Season is an utter mess)
KSU (Season is an utter mess)
UL (Season was a mess)
UVA (Season was a mess)
WASU (Season was a mess)
Utah (Didn’t even want to play this season)
SDSU (Trash season)
Pitt (Narduzzi is on the hot seat)
Stanford (didn’t want to play, plus Shaw was on the hot seat, but may not be now)

Only Udub & SMU have legit reasons for opting out due to Covid hitting them hard, now.

But can we pls stop the excuse machine of the *** whipping by UNC. The teams thats opted out have one thing in common.....they suck or their coaches suck. So if u wanna be put in that category......🤷🏾‍♂️

the way ESPn constantly pumps the playoff they have completely devalued all other bowls.

they have destroyed the bowl season by pushing the only thing that matters is the playoffs. Each year it gets worse and worse for the bowls with people and players actually caring.
Its not 'ESPN''s fault per say. Its the CFP format. Saban said this when the playoffs started: 'You're going to devalue all of the bowl games.'

Nah, there was no chance he’s getting canned for the bowl loss in this year. USC fans are similar to Miami fans. Message board warriors but the actual people spending money don’t carry the same anger and passion. Helton runs a clean program and can win just enough to keep them off his ***. Sounds like a lot of the power players there genuinely like him. The seat will be a bit warmer next year, but they definitely weren’t firing him for an Oregon L + bowl L.

My man; Helton was supposed to be fired last season. He’s literally the #1 coach on a hot seat right now. That’s not a message board rumor, that’s a fact. SC have high standards & pls believe me when I say they care about football.

His saving grace is that Lynn Swann was an idiot & extended him way too long at that time, boosting his buyout. I think I heard his buyout is somewhere around $20m. Him losing out, with one being on national TV, would’ve put more pressure on the admin from the boosters; but now opting out, Helton can easily weasel out the limelight, and SC won’t be forced to bite b/c of Covid finances. Helton have been losing out on big time Southern CA recruits. Even this 2021 class, he’s had to start going outside of SC’s traditional base.

So trust when I tell u, opting out the bowl was in his best interest. SC’s record was hella deceiving.

I really can’t under stand how Helton still has his job. It’s crazy what has happened to USC.

How many of our players do you think will opt out to play in the bowl game? I would say everyone that is even thinking about their draft status. Probably 6-8 of our best players?

Lol I have USC friends in the know who say the exact opposite. If USC really cared they would’ve gave Urban what he wanted and would have a new coach right now. Instead they let Helton scapegoat the Defensive staff and bring in Todd Orlando and other new assistants this season. Sound familiar? They’re literally Miami west. Same issues from top to bottom, but they may spend slightly more.

His seat isn’t more hot than Pruitt, Harbaugh, Herman for starters. A lot of their fan base is whining about them having to play 3 games in 2 weeks and Oregon on short notice after UDub pulled out anyways. He could definitely get there next year, but he wasn’t getting fired for a bowl game loss.

I’ve also watched 5 out of 6 of their games. They’re definitely fool’s gold. Should’ve lost to ASU, Arizona and UCLA.

So the only ranked team in the PAC 12, who just lost their championship game after a 6 game season isn't going to play in a bowl game.

This is why the PAC 12 isn't a serious contender.
