Usc fans on chip kelly....

Any college football fan that isn't ecstatic about chip Kelly being a possible coach of their beloved program is a nut case. I for sure thought USC would be drooling over him. But a lit of their fans sound like ours. Upset cuz he didn't win a ship..... At Oregon. Of all places. I don't usually comment on who I want as a coach. But this whole chip Kelly thing got me feeling all warm inside.

Look, he's light years ahead of the slop that we've put up since Butch Davis left but there are legitimate questions about Chip's ability to take it all the way. First, I recall his offense was shut down against stout defenses (Stanford under Harbaugh for example). Second, he hasn't shown the ability to put together a competent defense either in college or the pros. I would be all in for Chip but to pretend like he doesn't have a downside is silly as well.

Not surprised. They know those black stud athletes in Cali would go elsewhere instead of play for racist Chip.

I recall UNC fans not wanting Roy williams...he didn't have a Ring. 2 Championships later...

Read up. Looks JUST like the Canes board. A lot of usc fans NOT sold on Kelly.... Weird.
USC is stuck in the same time warp we are in. They're always clamoring for the pro style, I believe they're always clamoring to get coaches from the Pete Carrol era. Both programs are identical in many ways, and the stupidity of a portion of their fan base is no different

Unfortunately for them, they do not have a former HC begging to come back who built the greatest team in history for them. Their heron left them in huge ncaa scandal. Ours got us through one as big.

Look, SC fans want Pete Carroll back and want the Trustees to put up the money to pay for it.

Which would be epic, by the way.

Anyone who is a TRUE Canes fan would want to see a Kelly-led Canes team with a stout, savage D up against a Carroll-led SC team in a National Championship Game.

Uncle Luke vs. Snoop Dogg. Now winning that NC game would almost be as tasty as beating the Irish in South Bend, but not quite.

Beating the Irish in South Bend is still the Holy Grail of Canes Football, IMHO.

Yeah, many of them are pining for a pro style offense and some have even used the words gimmicky with regards to chip's offense. It's like this board 5 years ago. They want w Jeff fisher type

I don't know how it is a gimmick to score a chit ton of points and average 11.5 wins per season.

Chip Kelly was 46-7 during his only stint as a head coach in college, at a program that is not in a fertile recruiting area.

Whatever downside he has is pretty minuscule.

They weren't elite recruiters either....

[To the Board] Please note I know Chip was there between 2009-2012. The reason I posted 2006-2008 was to show you the talent he was playing with during those early years.

Chip took over Oregon when it was already great.

Butch > Chip

It isn't really close if you look at their resumes.

We are gonna fck around and end up w Skrong as Head CoRch

Just fcking hire Butch and spend money on coordinators

Already great....I wouldn't say Oregon was great. You could say improving.

Oregon's last Pac-10 title was 2001. Chip won the Pac-10 in year #1 .
Oregon's last BCS appearance was 2001. Chip made the BCS his first season.
In the four years prior to his arrival, Oregon was averaging 9 wins per season. In Chips 4 years, Oregon averaged 11.5 wins per season.

Kelly was at Oregon four seasons, that's it. While his record was good, he never won anything significant, had players issues and put them on probation. He is a good coach, not a great coach and I think UM can do better. I think USC fans feel the same way.
