Urban to the Cowboys?

An interesting debate if the Jones clowns could get both- do you go with Urbie or Lincoln Riley?

Meyer stated on Fox (I think) the Cowboys job was the one NFL job he’d consider. He compared the prestige of job to managing the Yankees. I would not be surprised to see Meyer as the new coach. He’s won NCs, so why coach another college team? He may be recharged after a year off and ready for a new job other than TV.

Riley would be a little more of a surprise but not shocking.

I hope not....He's very good on TV....The series of YouTube videos that were posted in here about a week ago were excellent....

Jerry Jones wants "yes" men. He showed that having a "yes" man is more important than winning super bowls. If you don't believe me then ask Jimmy.
I guess Bill Parcells is a “Yes man” too? Lol

Old man JERRUHH is starting to realize I think hes closer to the end and a dirt nap... he wants another Super Bowl and is willing to take a step back to get it

Urban and it aint close

I'd probably agree but the only opposing argument might be that one might envision a repeat of Sabag's NFL career with Urbie as a worst case scenario whereas one might see a Sean McVay type of deal with Riley. With that at least you skyrocket really quick to massive success before the rest of the league kinda figures you out.

Jeh-ruh Jones is 77 years old (although his face is only 5 years old) so maybe he opts to roll the dice on the later?

I would love to see that disaster. If UF almost made him get a heart attack then Dallas would make him drop dead during a game

Urban Meyer would fire Jerry Jones as his boss in a week. Then he’d fake a heart attack and go coach USC.

Urban isn’t going to the NFL to be told what to do.

Urban might not fit in NFL. It has been cracking down on violent criminals lately and that seems to counter to Urban staffing methods.

How many Super Bowls did Bill win with the Cowboys? Jimmy had built a very young dynasty from nothing with his unorthodox approach to drafting players. Why would you let go of a coach that won two Super Bowls in a row with very young personal if you simply wanted to win.

It would be like letting Nick Saban go "separate ways" because of personal differences after winning 2 national championships in a row because of the AD wanted to help call plays and Saban wouldn't let him.

As a Cowboys fan, I am torn about this situation. We all know he can coach, but can he earn the respect of grown men? If my cowboys were the same type of team that JJ had we would be set, do whatever the **** you want, just win! Urban is perfect for that

College guys who go the NFL almost always get a rude awakening eventually. They lose control of so much, players are paid more than them, the limitations on rosters and practises is extreme compared to college.

Urban is a guy who has a successful offensive philosophy, hires good staff, and builds a culture focused only on winning. He is also a great recruiter.

My take is 2/4 things that make Urban great in college don’t translate at all to the NFL.
