Urban Meyer out there unemployed

False he was busy being 7-9 in Cleveland. The players won it. The same players responsible for their illustrious careers. The same players who denounced Butch for lying to them and leaving.

The only he thing he won was your heart kiddo.

His rivals used him as a pinata.

Didn’t you see Ron Zook and Jim Tressel at urban Meyer’s championship parades?

And you're talking out of your ***. Those guys respected the **** out of Butch.

Lets talk about being used as a pinata, like Butch at UNC vs Miami.

Good God you’re more blind than even I thought. Sure , it’s a given Butch, with ONE CAREER 10 win season was going to out coach Pete Carroll, who’s won NCAA titles and a super bowl and has a perennial playoff team in the NFL.

I was wrong you’re not delusional, you’re just a creepy obsessed doofus.
How many titles did Carroll win at the time he was hired by USC? The answer … none. Overall he was 33-31 in 4 seasons with the Jets and Patriots and had the honor of being the victim of the having the infamous "Dan Marino clock play" (the Jets tanked the rest of the season after that).

He was not USC first choice, they wanted a splash hire and first perused Dennis Erickson (Oregon State's coach), then Mike Bellotti (Oregon's coach), followed by Mike Riley (the San Diego Charger's coach). They settled on Pete Carroll and the splash they received was a backlash by the media, their fans and their primary boosters.

There was nothing in his history that would project he would have the run he did. Butch had already had beaten Bowden and Spurrier in 2000 and if he had stayed, certainly would have won in 2001 and probably have out coached Tressl in 2002. By the time USC got good, you would be saying "Carroll had only one 10 win season back with the Patriots how was he going to out-coach Butch with multiple national championships"

This is a great story of if, would have and maybe.

But aside from what happened before Carroll got to USC, none of it has an ounce of reality tied to it.

Butch didn't stay and win the title, he certainly didn't outcoach Tressel in 2002 and Carroll did not have just one 10 win season. The reality is the complete opposite is true.

Carroll actually won two titles at USC, has been to two Super Bowls, winning one in Seattle and will be in the Hall of Fame.

Butch built a great program here, then bigger, better dealed us for a big payday in Cleveland. He was subsequently fired from that job and his next one before taking a job at a nothing FIU program after years without another gig.

That's the thing I'll never get about Butch lovers. They assume with 100% certainty that everything with him would have work out perfect. Today alone I've read titles would rain down on us if he had stayed, that he'd outcoach a proven guy like Tressel, that he would have stopped USC's dynasty and he'd absolutely out recruit Nick Saban at Alabama had we hired him.

These claims are so absurd and ridiculous they defy any kind of logic, yet with every passing year the legend continues to grow to even more preposterous levels.

It really is an amazing phenomenon.

I didn't bother to read your post inasmuch as you clearly didn't bother to read mine. Looking at things 15 year after the fact it's easy to guess right. But I said at the time he was hired. In 2001, when Carroll was hired at USC, he most certainly had only 1 10 win season and was chased out of every head coaching job he had. The hire was almost universally panned. There's a lot of risk selecting someone with a track record of failure which Butch did not have. If you can't see that, then it's too bad for you.

Have a nice day. ;)

2001 Miami vs 2004 USC would have been a game for the ages. Miami had more talent on the field, but Larry Coker would have been a huge liability. With one of the greatest teams ever he nearly lost at BC and VT.

I do wish Miami and USC would schedule a home-and-home series. And if they did, both teams are equally matched and CFP level.

Yep... Butch was a lot more qualified when he was hired. Did he forget Butch won 2 super bowls as a DC before coming to Miami and dealing with 31 scholarship losses??

@Go Canes!! likes to bring up the one 10 win season. Here's another stat: Miami has had one 10 win season since Butch's guys were gone. I'm sure you supported those corching failures every step of the way while bashing Butch.

The thing you Cult of Butch guys don't get is it's not "bashing" Butch. They are statements of fact.

He has one 10 win seasons in 20 years as a head coach. He was looking to bigger, better deal us and ultimately did bail on the Canes for more money in Clevleand. He has been fired from his last two jobs. He is 1-2 in his third year at FIU.

At the same time you dead eyed zombies regurgitate the same assumptions over and over and over and over about what he would
do here. And they're getting more preposterous every year.

He'd have 4-5 championships. He would have stopped USC's epic run. He'd have out coached Tressel in 02' and the whopper of them all...he'd be outrecruting Nick Saban right now.

And those comments are just from yesterday.

You dudes are pathetic, led by the Ray FInkel of your cult Cane in Orlando, with your tunnel vision that Butch and only Butch can save us.

Give me a break.

And as far as supporting staff. Yes I do it every time, until it's time not to.

Meanwhile your doofus leader was upvoting the fire Manny thread after the first ******* game of his tenure.

Why? Because in his demented obsession with Butch he's actually praying for failure because in his eyes it opens the door for the slightest of chances that his messiah will return.

Besides Sucking CaneinOrlando's Johnson, I haven't got anything more too say...

Plenty of good coaches have moved to other colleges and not had the success they had at the previous one. See Spurrier, Holtz, and Schnellenberger for details.

I would take Meyers in a heartbeat! And about probation?? OSU is still rocking hard at the horseshoe! And LSU with coach O... he has that team thumping especially on the offense, which LSU never had before.
Do you really think at Miami, we'd get the same type of cover that OSU got from the NCAA?
