Upperclassman defense vs underclassman offense

To me the most telling part of the season was the vast difference in play on both sides of the ball. The defense was nothing short of stellar and started uperclassman in every level for the most part. The offense had a bunch of freshman and sophomores playing TE, QB, OL (some but not all), and WR and we got what can be expected from that group (some flashes but also some expected play). The two facets of Offense that played subpar were obviously QB and OL but MR was not a QB to lead the team and Kosi (although flashed) also was not ready to lead the team. OL has to be seniors (mostly) and we are not there just yet. We cannot understate the importance of uperclassman any any team. Walk into any college campus in America and you can spot who is an upperclassman and who is not and for the most part the fresh and sophomores are just kids. Those same kids will ball out junior and senior year but they need time. CMR was hamstrung by this basic fact and although the decision to pull Kosi backfired there is no way of telling if that really was the cause of the losses (just look at yesterday’s line. Sadly our offense also lost tremendous senior leadership when AR was lost. Let’s see who this unfolds because CMR is smart and will do what he needs to do but let’s not lose sight of some very basic truths.

Mark Richt's best offense at UM is worse ( rankings wise) than Manny's worst defense. That's with the same star ratings , the same amount of recruiting years and the same amount of Golden players.

Mark Richt has had one top 20 offense in 18 years of being a head coach, he doesn't know **** about elite offenses.

Does not change the narrative of the point. We still had a bunch of underclass man playing offense.

Two years ago and last year were not bad offenses. Stats show otherwise. THIS year was a bad offense.

I have to disagree with you on the impact of golden players. Looking back at past golden classes the offensive side was severely under recruited, not on the # sides but on the quality of recruits. the only people still here that are making impact on the offense, is travis homer, sorry as cager, average st.louis and mahoney, hurt michael Irvin, Rosier, and Langham. Besides homer and maybe st.louis, everybody mention are not leaders or have zero to little impact on the offensive side of the ball. Just compare the type of players from the defense to the offense, the quality is not close at all. That being said CMR still needs to give up OC duties.

Malik Rosier started the year, Perry didn't play until FIU & started vs UNC, FSU & 2 series vs UVA.

Scaife didn't start until much later in the season vs UVA. Brevin played well & Mallory did what was asked of him.

Wiggins didn't start playing until FSU, Hightower played well when called on but only got a few snaps a game sparingly.

Lo never played any significant snaps before he was injured & Cam didn't get any legit snaps until Va Tech.

When Coaches/fans say we played a bunch of young guys as a reason for why our Offense was so bad that's just a lame excuse. The OL was comprised of Senior C Gauthier, Senior T St. Louis, Senior Jahair Jones, Redshirt Junior Hayden Mahoney, Red Junior Venzell Boulware.

Shaq, Pinck, McCloud all started as Frosh and were good, Malek Young started games as a Frosh & balled out as a True Soph last year & was great, Jon Garvin made several plays as a Frosh & started this year as a True Soph & was great, same goes for Bandy.

True Freshman play all over the country at major programs & succeed at a high level. Using youth to justify how bad this offense is might make more since if the offense was significantly better with all the upperclassmen, but we saw how that worked out vs LSU.

If the issue really was just youth on Offense, then Malik Rosier should've started all year long & we would've went undefeated right?

Part of the problem that the offensive staff regularly produces underachievers Why can Diaz squeeze good performance out of Golden's players and young players where Richt can't.

Offensive perfomances have been much worse with the same caliber of recruiting star players. Am I really supposed to believe that it's just coincidence/bad luck that all the underachievers are on the same side of the ball?

Just go look at who we picked up on the offensive side of the ball in the 2015/2016 classes, all of the top offensive guys are not playing besides homer and tyree, st.louis. especially 2016, every offensive guy is gone besides homer.

2015

offense 4 stars
Mark Walton-
Bar Milo
Tyree St Louis
Jerome Washington

offense 3 stars
Lawrence Cager
evan shirrefs
loftus
mahoney
gauthier

defense 4 stars
Jaquan Johnson

defense 3 stars
Kendrick Norton
Charles Perry
Michael Jackson
Redwine
Jaime Gordinier
RJ mcintosh
fines
knowles
james king

defense 2 stars
terrance henley

so far you're wrong about 2015. More 4 stars for the offense and more of the defenders have left to the nfl, or been lost to injury. A lot of guys overachieving their star rankings on D, not so much on offense.

I'm still right because the only 4 star players still there are sorry bar milo, though a 4 star only got an offer because he was Brad kaaya teammate and st louis, like I said before all of our players who would be contributing in the offense are gone. I never said anything about certain classes having more 4 star players on the offensive side of the ball.
