Great work as always @Lance Roffers . Man, I had to record the game and was watching it late Saturday night, so I didn't rewind plays as much as I normally do. Jennings' good plays stood out and I didn't catch many of the bad ones in real time, disappointed to see your analysis lol (I was trying to convince myself that just maybe there's hope for him to give us something). And Zion, **** that was even worse than I thought in real time too.

What did you think of us finally featuring Phillips in the role we used GR on pass rush downs last year, moving him inside? I loved it and wonder why it took us so long to do it. I'm assuming it was b/c we were down JHH and Ford, but I hope the staff realizes what he gives us there...I think it's critical this week vs. UNC. With his length and athleticism, Phillips can keep the QB from stepping up in the pocket and/or scrambling for yards. GR got a lot of his sacks that way, and we have enough depth and talent at DE to get pressure without Phillips out there. Personally I think we need that this week b/c Howell will step up and extend drives otherwise imo...could be a big key in us getting off the field on 3rd downs imo.

Good observation. Phillips made several plays as a 3-technique (outside shoulder of the G). He would shoot in-between the G/T or G/C and get into the backfield. My biggest observation of Phillips when he came here was in regards to his incredible Powerball testing numbers, which shows strength and explosion. Perfect for that 3-tech pass rush.

I'd even be fine using two 3-techs at the same time with JHH and Phillips and Roche/Harvey on the outside on 3rd-and-long where the run threat isn't as big (C gets to second-level easier with two 3-techs on the interior).

Absolutely agree on adding JHH on 3rd and longs.

Oh and I forgot to mention @Lance Roffers but I love this quote: " That’s this defensive pressure package in a nutshell; rely on the QB not being good enough to make the play to beat you." I've been saying that for years with us lol.

Also, you made a good observation on us targeting the DT in the read option game against Duke. I noticed that several times and thought King looked much more comfortable doing that than he has with the traditional DE read (though he has gotten a little better with that too as the year has gone on).
