JD mentioned in last night's postgame presser that there would be a shakeup in the rotation. Assuming that means Hugus becomes the Friday night guy.

Do Walters and Robert remain in the rotation? Wouldn't think anyone but Giroux and Lumpkin are stretched out near enough.

F - Hugus
S - Lumpkin
S - Robert
W - Giroux

Bullpen: Walters, Ciscar, Smith, Cleveland, DeRias, Fernandez, Collera

Lumpkin's not perfect but he's competent and mature enough to be elevated. Walters in short bursts should be more effective since he seems to hit a wall every week. Giroux can handle the remaining midweek slate of Stetson, FIU, Bethune, FAU, @FIU, FAU

A lot gets fixed by simply not going to Fischer out the bullpen.

I think one of the freshmen gets a start. Robert needs a reset, DeRias makes the most sense imo

I’d prefer getting a look at DeRias or another freshman midweek. Get them stretched out, and see if there’s someone you could slot into the weekend when they’re fully stretched, but otherwise this is spot on.

That's what I would like to see. Don't want to put that stress on Collera's arm (and not sure if the pitch mix is there yet for multiple times through the order), so Ciscar and DeRias are the two I would think could be given a shot.

Would be interested to get your reasoning on DeRias over Ciscar. JD seems to like Ciscar in big spots compared to the rest of the freshmen (and the bullpen in general), so my guess is that he'll leave him in that role and DeRias gets a chance to start like you said.

I like Ciscar’s profile as a reliever more with his maturity in big spots. In the future it will be interesting to see where he moves to, but considering he’s been one of our better relievers I wouldn’t mess with it

Rok it’s already brutal enough that I watch this team on a nightly basis but now you’re making lumpkin a weekend starter? He’s chestnut bad in my eyes

Agree. If JD wants to get another year, he should be following Jarrett's model from 2 years ago and sacrifice this season for the sake of the next. Get all the reps you can for the talented Freshman, sign and promise the top recruits lots of PT and hit the portal for the supporting cast.

This team is not making a run this year w the lack of proven starting pitching.

This is the ideal scenario. But we know the problem is this years freshman will likely not progress at the rate we'd need. If we had a coach who could develop year over year the middle of our order right now would be something like Jimenez, Cyr, Cuvet, 1-2 of the transfers we got, Carrier then play 1-2 freshman.

Lineup would be young, still a decent amount of K's, but that line up (with assumed development) would be top 25. Pitching would still be an issue. But again I'm thinking that this program in the hands of a recruiter who then develops.

We are getting talented kids. But most fall into the area of the Pareto Principle. Meaning they have put about 20% of their effort to get 80% of their results in life. How do you flip that to 80% of their efforts to get working toward that last 20% of results.

Tag team DeRias and Mikey on Saturday night.
If we can get 6 innings out of them would be a win win for us. Live or die with these freshmen.
And I know this is a Rotation thread, but how much longer do you play the upperclassmen who are hitting .250 - .260, taking 15 - 20 ABs to get an XBH, when they aren't even elite defenders?

i.e., Dorian. time for him to sit and let a youngster get a shot.
