Update on Shelton Henderson

Nah man, Duke recruits itself! Why isn't he going there?!?!
I don't really care either way if we get him. I won't claim to know how long they have had a relationship, imagine recruiting for Duke built theirs so good timing for us. If we had Lucas last year, would he be someone considering us? Works both ways but this is the best-case scenario hiring guy from a blue blood.

A true Plus defender. A Houston connection guy with Lucas. UM makes sense.

From a Duke Basketball Report commenter: "Him being a minus shooter. Sub 70%FT and sub 30% 3pt makes him a difficult fit on the court.

The front court, maybe in a Mark Mitchell role in the rotation at the 4 behind Boozer, Brown and Khamenia. Possibly on the wing looking for minutes against Harris and Evans (if he returns).

Being he would be the worst shooter on the roster at his size would put him at a distinct disadvantage for minutes. I'm not sure his other offensive skills make up for that."

If his shooting doesn’t improve, I think he will end up more on the ball like Justise Winslow or Marcus Smart. He’s a very good ballhandler for his size.

Lol tell me what players he got for Duke other than Shelton… and I’m not saying jai can’t get players at all
Jai was Dukes best recruiter and the primary person on most of their biggest wins. Thats not really up for debate, even Duke people have acknowledged it.

Turns out Jai doesn't care. The Duke tears are already wonderful, and this isn't even official yet.
I wouldn't mind being wrong here, but also wouldn't be surprised if there was more to this story. Just don't see Jai sticking it to his former boss like this, or could he?

I think Duke probably is working on another transfer forward. Not sure who they are linked to currently, but with guys like Andrej Stojakovic and Dame Sarr becoming available in the past few days I wouldn't be surprised if they were targeting those guys and news got out to Henderson. I'm sure Duke is looking to bring in experience after losing so terribly in the final 4.

Believe they are the early leader for Stojakovic

If yall get him he will help … I can see him playing like the twins in the nba that play for Houston n Detroit
So we’ve got bigger hands Winslow, taller Smart, bulkier (less athletic) Thompson twins. 1st team AA coming up

On a serious note, all of this sounds very Scottie Barnes-esque.

Facts if he can get his jumper better yall got a good player

I think a shorter version of Jalen Johnson would be an ideal outcome. Johnson left early from Duke and a lot of development happened in the NBA, but Henderson has the two way upside and body to be that guy. Depending on his shooting could stay for 2 years.

Nah he's not close to them as an athlete imo. Even in his highschool highlights he's not trying to tear down the rim, he's not as explosive as them but it seems like his main plus is his strength and length for his size.

All the Duke “Logo” recruited itself and Jai Lucas was a non factor crowd is sick right now 🥴
I think we can all agree that over the years recruiting at Duke, Kentucky and Texas is/was a lot easier to do than at about 99% of the country. Don't think I've seen anyone on here saying Jai was a non-factor at Duke, but I assure you it ain't hard to recruit basketball players there. No matter who it is, when they call, people listen. Same can't be said for a vast majority of the other programs.

Lol jai was good but he wasn’t Duke best recruiter
I’m talkin about the ppl who essentially said that me & you could recruit Kids to Duke as if Lucas wasn’t really a good recruiter & Dukes logo just recruits itself..but here we are getting news that this Elite kid decommits from them after Lucas (who was said to to have played a big role in getting him there) leaves and that Miami is in it as far as recruiting him now 🤔..i guess Dukes logo is getting out recruited on this one right now 🤷🏾‍♂️.
