Update on David Stone-he is staying at Oklahoma

What’re the chances OU is playing this up to get a big “recruiting win”? ****, in todays age retention is a win I guess. Nebraska flaunted Riola two years in a row 😂

The $80 million coach line has gotten old at this point. Mario is the 18th highest paid coach in the country ..18th. Did we finish in the top 18 last year. Yes we did. And we will finish in the top 18 this year also.

we will until his contract is over. We’re getting exactly what we’re paying for at this point in time. If you want to look at some of the coaches on the list that have accomplished less than Mario but are getting paid more, go ahead and take a look. Don’t take my word for it. We’re finally spending the same money other programs have been pouring into theirs for 30 years and he’s supposed to win everything overnight. His first real recruiting class is starting their junior year! Winning a championship is a long process, period and there aren’t any shortcuts.

Players that would melt the board if we lost them.

We aren’t the only ones pushing and spending to get better.
There’s literally only 3 players id be sick about. Beck because the qb market is trash, and i would hate to let bain and francis finish somewhere else because those are the two guys who i think we could point to as a shift in the program when they get drafted

Everyone else? Bye if it means we get an upgrade

I think about that a lot. It’s really on the players and his agent to really verify the legitimacy of offers before steering the kid into the portal only to get caught with your pants down like Nico did.

And I wonder if the agents lie and say this team is offering 40% more just to bluff Miami to spend more. Lots of games being played with no rules on how to play lol.

But that’s why Mario gets paid the big bucks.
Honestly i couldn't imagine dealing with all that on top of coaching. Sure they hire others to deal with it but still as the head coach im sure its ran across his desk. No one ask for less its always more.

that article posted one page back really lays it out. Sounds like Nagy came in and set up some kind of "scale of measurement" to determine NIL. Stone was asked to take a pay cut since his freshman year performance didn't meet his goals. That article really takes Nagy and Venables to task. It also asks hard questions about parental involvement...... It pretty much calls for OU to figure it out with Stone.
The family didn’t want him there anyway and then OU gives them ammunition by cutting his NIL so I’m sure they were in his ear like, “See? Told you that these mofos are lowdown. Jump in the portal and see what your value is?”…which the family has every right to. Their loyalty lies with Stone not OU.

He just might end up staying but it’s going to cost OU more now I’ll bet. Just for being jacka$$e$.

So your goal in bringing Mario in was to be the 18th best team in the country? Stop it.

"Any competent coach should win the ACC at Miami...without Mario's budget"
at mannys peak here - we entered the bowl at 18 finished at 21?

so we paid a lot more for 3 more spots at the end of the season? (both w bowl losses in the same game coincidentally enough)

I actually dont mind this by the school.

I mean we just Rudolph Carr achaempong Wayne being too expensive to keep based on 1st year performance.

Who said we're getting an upgrade if they leave?
Also...a small list of guys that logically could be offered a bag from other schools, after teams hear about our practice and watched us:

Malachi Toney
OJ Lucas
Zach Poyser
Elijah Lofton
Anez Cooper

I'd be sick if any of them left, amongst others.

We need to be better. We’ve improved three wins and nine draft picks from January 2022, but we lost a 21-point lead to Syracuse with the season on the line. We aren’t where we need to be.

Part of the fun of this process is debating strategy and allocation. But the whining I see from many about us “going cheap” is wrong. And it often comes from those who don’t put up money.
Money doesn’t matter when every one has money to spend. We need to evaluate and develop much better rather than just grabbing talent method Mario does. Time to develop and play our young talent and stop making excuses.

OU prob keeps him but def went from giving him a paycut to now paying even more than before. Good for the kid in this case (doesnt appear to be a case of straight greed here) but Lol at college football.
