Unpopular opinion on TVD

I’ve been trying to put my finger on this familiar feeling I’ve been having and I couldn’t quite place it. But I’ve figured it out. Jake Garcia is the new Cis Lorenzo Lingard. He’s gonna be really good cause I think he is in my head

Said it before, he has talent and measureables but he is erratic, which means he will look like he has cannon on some throws and a duck on others.. He looks like he got none of that qb coaching in his younger days so no fundamentals and his placement and all that is just all over the place which means results may vary.. Dude is backyard qb at this point, maybe a offseason with a real qb coach can help but against Garcia who probably had california qb coaching all his life, he might close gap fast.. Interesting because this kid is sold as game manager type in offseason who is consistent and Garcia was wildcard, seems like reverse.. This kid short hops easy wide open swing passes and makes some really nice throw too, just erratic as ****..

I’m not a believer in either TVD or Garcia & firmly believe we need to hit the Portal for a QB next year...

Think we should take a page out of SMU’s book & take whoever leaves from Oklahoma; yes I would take Spencer Rattler here in a heartbeat, **** I’d even take Micah Bowens if he decides to transfer again.

I’d also be on the lookout for Garrett Nussmeier (a kid we recruited coming out of HS), my guess would be with Ed O getting fired & new regime coming in & his dad being the QB’s coach for the Cowboys that he would probably wanna transfer to a school back in Texas, but I also think that if/when Kellen Moore gets a HC gig somewhere that Nussi will follow him & depending on who we hire as the new HC (hopefully an offensive minded guy who isn’t a former Cane coach lol) that we could potentially maybe pique his interest into coming here & competing with two guys that aren’t guaranteed shoo-ins to be starters, meaning he could easily snatch it from either one. Not saying any of this would happen, just saying IF he were to enter the Portal he’d be a kid I’d try to go get.

Would also reach out to Jalen Milroe again & see if he really wants to sit behind Bryce Young for 3 years or come here & be the successor to King... Same with Sawyer Robertson, Will Rogers is a Sophomore & Sawyer’s not gonna play for Leach for another 2 years, hit him up & see if he’s interested. Same with Behren Morton at TTech, Sophomore Maverick McIvor & Freshman Donovan Smith are in line to play before him & for a kid with his incredible arm talent if he hits the portal he’ll be a highly sought after commodity.

But the QB I’d go after the hardest aside from Spencer, is Cameron Ward, kid is a just Sophomore has terrific arm talent & is killing it at Incarnate, I know I know not a P5 QB, but neither is Malik Willis or Bailey Zappe & Zappe (who transferred from a FCS school) is 2nd in the nation in passing yards, 1st in passing TD’s & tied for 7th in completion % & Willis is gonna be a 1st round draft pick in the 2022 draft.

TVD biggest issues is he stares down his first option at wide receiver. Other than that he should be okay with good COACHING.

Fix his mechanics, hope they do a better job with him then they did with Rossier: you watch the Duke game Rossier started the kid was slinging the ball like a BB. Richt comes in, they fixed his motion, and he looked absolutely brutal with his new over the top motion.

Can’t be scared to hurt feelings. Van ******* looks decent. Nothing more. Garcia has high potential. Do you feel this is true even with what you said? I think the next coach needs to go after a passer in the portal who’s a senior or junior and Garcia can sit for another year. Then let him and brown Duke it out.

But liberty why do you like or not like Garcia?

Regardless the next coach is gonna find his guy. Whether it’s someone on the team now or not.

Rattler would be an amazing pull. I know he looked like ***, but those OU qbs have serious arm talent. Ours don't even compare.

I talked to three guys on offense who said TVD is the real deal.

TVD has 1st round demeanor, NFL build and physical skills, and big time arm talent.
Garcia is way too erratic right now, and has too much "Harry Highschool" in him. He's not the sharpest tool in the drawer, so his development is going to be a bit different. and his arm isn't the same as TVD's.

Garcia can pull it together, and he can definitely be big time player, but he has work to do (just like TVD does.)

Another guy who may be on the market is Miller Moss. It's looking like Jaxon Dart is the next QB at USC and who knows what will happen with a new coach

I think some of that is related to his very poor footwork. He doesn’t strike me as a kid that is not coachable.

I think he’s been poorly coached here as I see a lot of moxy & tools for him to be an effective college starter. Not sure about the rest of his ceiling beyond that.

I have a lot of concerns with Rattler. Chief among them are the whispers that he is a terrible leader & not a good teammate. For me, that’s a red flag I am not willing to overlook.

I love your overall premise & idea and the rest of your list of QBs.

All those things might be true, dude has serious arm talent. If somebody fixes the mental issues, strike gold. I would ask our fans to watch those OU qb's. We don't have anybody that can make the throws their capable of. Release time, angles, etc. The only pass I give Lashlee. We can't run plays that OU and many other teams run. 2 seconds ball out and caught in a flash. I haven't seen that out of us in years.
