Unpopular opinion on TVD

He’s got mid round NFL talent. Garcia though has 1st round talent and all the players knew it in practice. The only way TVD beats out Garcia next year is if Garcia still hasn’t fully healed from his foot injury.
….I wouldn’t put too much stock into that.

And btw, TVD played well w/o a flipping running game which ideally helps a 1st year starter.

I also enjoy that everyone has decided TVD's fate after 2 games but has crowned Jake after 0 games. (Haven't we made this same mistake w/ like every QB recruit the last 20 years?)

Anyways, we got what seems like 2 good QBs in that room. There's talent for a new coach here IMO.

I am by no means a QB expert but his release looks like how Mike Harley runs. IDK if it has any bearing but it just looks ugly, same thing with Harley, maybe he runs a 4.4 but it looks goofy.

Dude is what? 6'4? No way he should have as many balls batted down as 5'9 King, a few here and there? sure. But I think a majority in last game was a direct result of his weird delivery.

Otherwise he has size, athleticism, remains cool, a lot of good intangibles.

Two games where it was tail of two halves for him, but I like what I’ve seen so far from a guy who’s just starting to play.

He reminds me of a more recent Michigan State style quarterback for some reason in terms of what he could be. Athletic enough, good enough arm strength, etc. But has to get going sooner and obviously work more on his decision making. But there’s a lot there to have an interesting career here.

He doesn’t have the immediate *** appeal of the gun slinging Garcia (which we only know about in high school, practice or playing Popeyes tech earlier this year. We have no clue what he will be like against real competition) so it will be interesting to see how that battle develops.

He has a weaker arm than I was Expecting and i don’t like the side arm throws he makes honestly. But we will see what happens
That’s weird, because he actually has shown a much stronger arm than I was expecting.

I do agree that his throwing motion and release need work. But arm strength is NOT the problem.

Anybody giving up on the kid is irrational. I think he has looked very very bad in 4/8 quarters he’s played. He’s been here 2 years. Red shirt freshman qbs have lit it up all across college football over the years. His mechanics are worse than rosiers. Not giving up on the guy but I’m certain that Garcia would have been brought into the game in both uva and or UNC and he would have ran with the opportunity and been the qb of the future. Not giving up on tvd but right now I don’t see how hes the qb of the future.
He also took every first team snap in spring with D’Eriq out. Sorry, he doesn’t get a pass. He can transfer and I rock with Garcia til Brown takes the reigns. TVD ain’t it.

He’s flashed some skills but still looks very inconsistent. Back to back games it’s taken him a half to get comfortable and you just can’t do that if you want to win. His delivery is a bit slow but he’s got a nice arm and his touch on downfield throws is pretty nice. He gives the receivers a chance to make a play or draw a PI penalty. The poor reads are definitely an experience issue. I understand there are redshirt freshmen QBs who get everything right away but they’re the exception, not the rule.
That’s on the OC. He needs to call plays that gets him comfortable and in a rhythm just like any OC in history. Our OC apparently thinks that’s some bull****.

Some of y’all too young to remember the Berlin through Stephen Morris years I guess.

He's played 2 ungodly bad group of 5 level defenses.

NC State and Pitt are gonna shell shock him. UNC a week prior made a glorified running back at FSU seem like Lamar Jackson.

Accuracy is a problem and Lashlee offers nothing more then Richt & Enos ever did.

To early for me to give up on the kid but I’m looking for improvement over the next few games. He has an opportunity to run away with the starting job for the next 2-3 years. The balls and his future is in his hands.
Last phrase seems to describe some CIS posters too.
