I'm not convinced that he can't develop into a top tier QB. The kid keeps his cool, has the physical tools and has flashed. I know a lot of people have already bailed on him because he wasn't immediately Johnny Unitas, but I think we'll figure out if he is a long term solution over the next 3-4 games.

If he can continue to learn and improve, he might be our answer at that position.

TBD...

To early for me to give up on the kid but I’m looking for improvement over the next few games. He has an opportunity to run away with the starting job for the next 2-3 years. The balls and his future is in his hands.

Anybody giving up on the kid is irrational. I think he has looked very very bad in 4/8 quarters he’s played. He’s been here 2 years. Red shirt freshman qbs have lit it up all across college football over the years. His mechanics are worse than rosiers. Not giving up on the guy but I’m certain that Garcia would have been brought into the game in both uva and or UNC and he would have ran with the opportunity and been the qb of the future. Not giving up on tvd but right now I don’t see how hes the qb of the future.

You want to see improvement but I wouldn't judge him if we don't see it this year. This team is a dumpster fire right now and you have to imagine there's some apathy amongst the coaching staff right now. This is hardly a normal situation. Personally, I like him. He's more than I anticipated. He played hard on Sunday and if that tipped ball falls harmlessly to the floor, we might be singing his praises today instead of lamenting a 2-4 start.

If we're playing the if game, what if he had another interception prior, which he should've before that.

His legacy here will be as an INT machine.

Decision making and accuracy are usually at top of my list. This dude stared a covered slant and still threw it, lol.. And he has a loooooong way to go with accuracy, he seems like a backyard qb who didnt get any training and is just winging it off talent (which he is very talent and has measurables).. If his peoples didnt have it hopefully someone takes him in during offseason and help him with fundamentals..

I dont know if you can be successful without accuracy longterm, dude was groundballing wide open players, throwing behind slants, etc.. long way to go, he has talent tho, and he cares so he will be willing to put in work, plus we know corches value experience over better players so he will have leg up on Garcia there, we will see what happens

Flashes all of the tools… calm, collected, mature, mobility, playmaking ability, arm strength, touch, accuracy… but hasn’t put them all together yet. King tended to get away with his mistakes more often than not. Rosier did too. I think it’s that defenses expected them to run and they know TVD can but they don’t play him for it. They play him for the pass.

Hoping Garcia is ready to play soon, but I suspect there's any here who would rather he stay on the shelf than see what he brings to the table at this time.

Garcia is the future and I've already said what's on my mind about TVD.

Jake should let his foot heal and take RS. He shouldn’t hurt himself long term for this season. He can come back and beat TVD. The locker room knows he’s better than the other QB including TVD already. As I stated above, unless there’s some lingering affects then he should be the starter.

Too early to tell. He didn’t cost us the game.

Felt bad for him on the sidelines. No flash and he obviously is vested emotionally into this program.

I guess we will see how it plays out

How can you say that at this juncture?

Kid wasn't expecting to play a meaningful snap all season. And now he's the starting QB under these circumstances. How can he even be fairly judged at this point, particularly under this staff?

He has great touch on deep balls and made some good decisions that weren't catches (like the throw to Keyshawn in the end zone). He did miss some easy throws-I want to see whether that's just who he is or nerves. The long throwing motion concerns me (reminds me of Leftwich) but presumably something like that can be corrected.

Mind blowing

This is fantastic because of your use of the double negatives in the first sentence.
The kid has size, arm strength, athleticism (which will improve as his motion improves), and remains cool in tough times. Those are not teachable traits.

He’s flashed some skills but still looks very inconsistent. Back to back games it’s taken him a half to get comfortable and you just can’t do that if you want to win. His delivery is a bit slow but he’s got a nice arm and his touch on downfield throws is pretty nice. He gives the receivers a chance to make a play or draw a PI penalty. The poor reads are definitely an experience issue. I understand there are redshirt freshmen QBs who get everything right away but they’re the exception, not the rule.
