Unpopular here but the hatred for coaches is bizarre

Coach L is without a doubt one of the best hires the University ever made.
just the immediate turnaround he made to a program that isnt known for anything hoops related is amazing. never in my wildest imagination would i have expected a final four from UM hoops. ****, even an ACC title in the larkin year knowing that the ACC is akin to the SEC in terms of dominance in a sport.

beyond the QB room, there were signs that this team wasnt disciplined and it reflected coaching. penalties and turnovers were consistent from day 1 of the season even against g5/fcs teams and thats w TVD healthy and playing well. it got worse once we played p5 comp.
The secondary getting torched. DL being to thin. Lack of playmakers on offense. Outside of RB and TE being disappointments, I had this thing in pen before spring.

i think guirdy has done an amazing job esp w the injuries to the DL and even secondary. hes def a gem of a hire.
He certainly should be retained at all costs. He exceeded all expectations even with deck stacked against him.

The fact that most of you cowards are relieved or happy we kept it close or didn't get blown out is the reason Miami football is dead. I hope all of you are raising daughters.
The majority of what I read people were saying how our defense would give up like last year and it would be a blowout… these boys kept fighting till the end. I see the progress.
As a lions fan you should know blowing up a program every other year is not a good idea.

My pushback is on the narrative we should be happy we didn't get embarrased. If you want to draw positives so be it. Keeping the game close is not a positive. Especially when we are undisciplined and handicap our players. As a Lions fan, I also know the difference between winning because of the coach (Campbell) and winning in spite of the coach (Patricia). I didn't need 3 years to see the difference.

The fans are the problem. I've been waiting on someone to notice this. I mean, I'm in Texas and I sit on my couch knowing exactly what 3 plays will be called before a punt. We need to get this rectified IMMEDIATELY.
Some will say, it’s your fault, you need to tamper your expectations, not expect Mario to change his ways. Give him time to perfect those 3 plays…

I think we should be happy about the progress. We got down early made some boneheaded plays. Poor officiating on the safety but didn’t let it snowball and hurt our game. Also the guys that were making plays jacolby. Flagg. Etc. these kids are getting better and it’s showing.

People were upset about last year because we were getting dog walked every game. Now we’re competing the right way and making every single game competitive and they’re still mad.

Cristobal is making progress. I just don’t understand how that’s hard to see it’s like fans are watching box score/results instead of the game.

Fans loved to bring up Tennessee and Tcu last year as examples of what Cristobal should be now those teams getting smacked this year.

I’ve been a Mario defender and want him to succeed…….but I can’t unsee the blatant incompetence with late game decision making, the complete lack of creativity or ability to get the ball in the hands of playmakers that are existent on this team (again), or the complete mismanagement of the most important position on the team (a trend and stigma Mario has unfortunately earned).

I get he’s not going anywhere so it lives or dies with him, but it’s alarming and the real question is does it change and how? 3rd OC in 3 years? Stop trying to control when it seems like he’s someone who is hard headed and works on that control? Assess and bring in a QB when you paid more this past offseason to keep a head case at the position?

I mean ****, with even average QB play and offense this team is 9-1 yet the reality is 6-4.
Agree, we all wish the coaches the best, but it's frustrating to see us waste one of the best offensive lines we had seen at the U, in 20 years. We all want 5 star wide receivers, but yet we put that crap of a product out there. It's frustrating to go into a bye week, with all the momentum, then come out of the bye week looking nothing like the team that went into the bye week.

I get being passionate and wanting nothing more than to see this program back on top. I truly do, but there is a difference between being critical and downright hating coaches. Trust me. I wasn't too thrilled about that Ga Tech game. But JC boys. I mean, people are still obsessed with hating Golden and Diaz. Is there something I missed? Was there a story that came out that showed Golden and Diaz conned their way into getting the job just to secretly sabotage the program? I guess we live in a country now where conspiracy theories are real news so maybe that's it? Not only is there so much hate, but to one of our own?? What?? CMC has more Miami Hurricane in him than many fans combined. Again, I understand being critical, but some take this way too far. Not to mention, if you truly take a step back, you would see significant progress. I am still convinced we were a top QB from possibly being undefeated. One player could have had this board singing a much different tune. So being a message board guy since Grassy(boy do i miss that board), I know Ill get the typical "alpha male"(another loser term) responses or the responses that have nothing to do with what I said, and thats cool. I am probably asking for it but for me, win or lose Mario is a true Cane and thats enough for me to tone down the rhetoric.
Actually, I don't blame the coaches for this debacle, blame the administration, that started with Donna.

The progress is being negated but the glaring issues that could easily be fixed. Discipline, QB recruiting, game management, special teams, all things that should have been addressed after year 1 but were neglected.

Then we watch teams like Washington and Louisville have immediate success. Also doesn't help when the narrative being pushed is how important the season is for landing recruits that we missed. CIS creates most of the mopes then tries to change the markers for success.

Discipline- we are playing young players.
Qb recruiting- tvd earned a second shot after last year’s abomination.

Game management and special teams is fair criticism. B smith should be returning everything. I don’t think anyone saw TVD turning into the mental midget he is. I was optimistic for a better record but expectations should change after seeing how van dyke ****ed the season up with **** play. We can’t just keep getting rid of coaches after one year. We won’t truly know how good the coaching is until we see the young guys develop. They have to get comfortable with the system too

Our old players make the majority of the mistakes.

Tyler did deserve a second shot, I agree. Tyler did not earn the right to be handed the job with 0 competition on the roster. He has 2 previous years of inconsistent film that our HC is privy to. The rate at which he dissipated can maybe surprising but he was not the sure thing that the board tried to create. Mario failed to create competition and appears to be headed for a redux.

have you seen this board. people have parroted the nick went 7-6 in year 1 forever to make themselves feel better about Mario.

this isnt a rebuild as you keep saying. coaches can WIN NOW. its been proven all over CFB. this isnt an argument im willing to have anymore bc its a cult on here. you can't criticize a coach who has underperformed in a year and half overall without being crucified bc the cult is so strong for Mario.
Coaches win "now" and coaches win after their 3rd year.
Check out Norvell and his ****** D (comparable to our O) in his 2nd year.

There's no set script.

I don't like what I see now.
A 3rd year turnaround with a new approach on O is what I'm hoping for.
Not likely, but we'll see.

I would disagree on the mistakes part cuz bain and setting the edge has hurt us as well as maiugoa at rt with false starts holding etc. The older players making constant mistakes I see are williams kinchens Van dyke

Telling van dyke you believe in him and invest nil in him then going out and finding competition (someone who can replace him) will be more harmful then you think. You risk losing other players as well because now they see you as a liar and two faced. Can’t really sale the brotherhood of the U if you lie to your own players.

This mentality is why we are 6-4 headed towards 6-6. Very few QBs deserve the leash Mario and you are willing to hold. The message a real coach sends is we believe in you and we will give you every opportunity to succeed but we won't be handicapped by your mistakes. Instead.......

I never got the hate for Manny. Sure, he probably was not the guy and I didn't have a problem with moving on from him, but never understood the personal hate. Unlike Golden (who wouldn't fire his DC), Richt (deservedly got less hate, but he did refuse to let his son go) and Mario (maddening offense and gameday decisions), Manny at least was willing to adapt and try to make changes.

Norvell had less coaching exp as an hc than Mario and he still won 2 double digits seasons at Memphis in his first four years. He’s now won double digits twice in four years at fsu. He also calls his own plays and isn’t coordinator reliant for a side of the ball like Mario is for both. We’re now likely going into year 3 w our third diff oc. Chances are a turnaround isn’t likely
