Under the radar coach you would like

Who are some of the top young coaches that actually coach in a power conference?

Unless a guy has had ridiculous success coaching in the mid-majors (e.g., Urban Meyer), I'm not really interested, with the exception of some guru type who originally made his name at a power conference school as a coordinator.

I'm really interested in Pruitt if he can sustain his success at UGa for the entire year. That means a lot, especially because Richt is an offensive guy so you know that whole defensive turnaround is his doing. I know he's not under the radar but if we don't hire Butch and Pruitt really does turn around that UGa defense, let's get him. He knows how the whole southern recruiting thing works, he's coached against the best, and learned from the best.

We discussing hiring a under the radar coach, and we still have a HC...smh..lol... The AD already said Golden ain't goin no where....we can wish n hope, but he here for at least 2 more years

AD's stick up for coaches all the time and still fire them at the end of the season. Golden's on the clock now.

There's kind of a conventional wisdom, that seems to have set in at UM, that you don't hire an assistant to be the head coach for the first time. That originally started with Sam Jankovich, which is one reason he did not elevate Tom Olivadotti or Gary Stevens. We got away from that with Butch, Coker and Shannon, and the last two got fired. I think the tendency might be to look again for an up and coming guy with head coaching experience. It generally seems to be less risky, given the kind of responsibilities a head coach has. A head coach has to be essentially a CEO. I know if I were an AD, my comfort level would be higher with a guy with a head coaching track record.

Whether that's a wise approach, I don't know. A lot of elevated assistants have done well, I guess. Was Jumbo Fisher a head coach before FSU?

Pruitt has only been a DC for two years
And Gus Malzahn was only a coordinator for a couple years when we could have hired him.

How long was Bob Poops the DC at ufayg before OU hired him?

Sometimes, you need vision when hiring.

Kinda scared Pruitt is just waiting for a big time SEC job to open up. But I'm all for it.

Butch is my #1 choice. I think it gets done.

If not, and we don't go with experienced guys like Schiano/Chud, you gotta find a hungry, young guy that will light his grandmother on fire at Christmas if it means getting a win. Not someone who has more hashtags and excuses to his names than wins.

Scott Frost, OC, Oregon
Philip Montgomery, OC, Baylor
Jeremy Pruitt, DC, Georgia
Kirby Smart, DC, Alabama

Darkhorse coordinators:

Geoff Collins, DC, Miss St
Dave Aranda, DC, Wisc
Justin Wilcox, DC, USC
Lincoln Riley, OC, ECU
Kurt Roper, OC, UF
Jake Spavital, OC, aTm

You can find a young guy who knows he has a wealth of talent at his exposure within an hour's drive of this campus, and wants a chance to prove himself. The key is having people in charge that are smart enough to find him.

Miami is a parked Ferrari. It just needs the right driver.

Strong list. If not mentioned already, I wouldn't mind the entire Mcneese State staff. I seen a few of their games the past couple yrs and really like what they try to do both offensively and defensively. I know they're not deep atm...Just 57 Scholly players?

I'm not too privy on the S or N Dakota's, but one of those staffs has been operating at an elite lvl as of late with the same limited scholly deal.

I hope that THIS time Donna and co finally pull their heads out of their asses and realize that this program is hanging by a string. we desperately need a resurgence and they are gonna have to loosen up and bring in a winner.

I really hope Butch comes. we would be good day 1.

I don't understand the appeal behind Scott Frost. Is everyone under the Chip Kelly coaching tree supposed to be an offensive great or are they an imitation? You had Chip Kelly as HC calling plays at Oregon, they promote Mark Helfrich from OC who I assume calls plays now, and now you wanna take their OC a year removed from WR coach?

Also, enough with the coordinator suggestions it's the biggest risk. We could have Gus Malzahn or we could have Will Muschamp, Dana Holgorsen, Gene Chizik, Bo Pelini, etc. After 10 years of not winning 10 games, hire someone who is learning on the job?

Definitely not my 1st choice but we need Butch, Hugh Freeze or David Shaw. Proven winners.

Butch makes to much sense to actually happen. 1-Proven 2-Available 3-Right price 4-Hungry for redemption. Somebody tell Butch to put together a large binder when he talks to Donna. Donna loves her some binders during interviews.

The guys at NDSU went to Wyoming, they have a first year coach now. NDSU cares about winning more than we do.

In order for us not to skip a beat, I think our BEST option is bringing in an offensive minded coach who will keep Coley as the OC, because he can still recruit, but will not let him call plays anymore. Then we need a stud DC and I would say keep all the local South Florida HS coaches and we good.

I don't think the big time SEC programs like bama, LSU, etc. would hire him. They'd empty the bank on a Saban type hire. ****, even sorry *** Arkansas broke the bank to steal an experienced HC from a good big ten program.
