Yeah, that went about as good as one could expect. Same fans bytching about Luke are the same ones who forgave Dennis Erickson a few weeks back on Gameday in Miami or the same ones who still speak highly of Butch Davis. Luke is responsible for making untold thousands of people Cane fans back in the day by rocking Canes gear all the time in his videos and on his album covers.
 
Those guys coached us successfully. Luke was literally steering kids away from Miami. How are these things even remotely the same?

You're selectively recalling what they did. Erickson and Butch left the program high and dry, a much, much bigger crime against the Hurricanes than steering a kid away if you ask me. We **** near faced the death penalty post-Erickson. I don't see how one can forgive that and not Luke or vice versa. To be clear, he was never the ideal Gameday guest and I could think of many others I'd prefer over him. But like others said here, he was entertaining which is expected from an entertainer.

I forgave Schnellenberger for leaving.

I forgave Jimmy Johnson for leaving.

I forgave Dennis Erickson for letting our team get a bit out of control.

I forgave Butch Davis for leaving.

Luke was Luke in the day - he's a bit perplexing at times now - but at the end of the day - he's a Canes fan.

Luke is a Cane when it’s good for Luke to be in the limelight.First time Richt does something Luke doesn’t like or makes a cut that he doesn’t approve of or doesn’t take one of his kids HE thinks ought to be taken he’ll be back ranting and Raving on us again.

and to us....Luke was selling us on Devonta Freeman and a number of others that we didnt take.

it is what it is with Luke. At the end of the day hes a cane fan like us

Luke is at best a lukewarm Cane. He used to be all in but he changed allegiances a few years ago. No way I want that guy representing us.

Best choice would have been The Rock, plain and simple. Even Vanilla Ice would been a better pick than Uncle Luke.
