Tired of Luke. Willie was Failing. Unlike chip Kelly and frost what resume and track record of success does Willie have to fall back on?

when your rivals are excited about your coaching hire you’ve already failed. This place was like xmas when Willie was announced.

So you think that it’s coincidence that African American coaches don’t get the same amount time to have success? I’m no Taggart fan but we all know that black coaches are not afforded the same opportunities as their white counterparts that’s just a fact

@Bluboi1914 you are the one with the race goggles on.

if you think that texas fans are somehow more racist than the slime that lives in tallahassee, i have a bridge to sell you.
I think there is more deep seeded racism in the powers that be behind UT football than those behind FSU football, yes.

Maybe, maybe not. I think it was more of a knee jerk reaction to losing to UM. The rivalry has been down nationally, but for fans and especially the older boosters they HATE losing to UM this cannot be overstated. They take the win some lose some approach with UF but not with UM. And they were just embarrassed by a 4 loss miami team.

Austin is one of the most progressive towns in Texas. Football is a religion in that region. Charlie had a short lease because like Willie, he couldn't do nothing with Top 10 recruiting classes.
And you think most UT boosters reflect "progressive Austin"? LOL

But still, it was BEFORE the record you speak of. Come off it man you know the REAL reason they howled about his hiring at UT.

i'm not saying that there weren't some racist idiots in the group, but to write off any criticism of strong's hire before he coached a game as racism is ridiculous. randy shannon was a broyles award-winning dc here and a huge portion of the fan base hated the hire before he coached a game. was that because of racism or because he wasn't a proven coach and we expected more? texas big wigs looked at the situation: guy just finished his 4th year as a head coach and his second straight season with 12 wins, but that was because they had an all-world quarterback lighting up a conference that didn't play defense. the jury was still out on strong at the time of the hire, and it turned out that the dude is a corch.

I think Luke is a piece of s'hit who always has a hidden agenda, including his comments about this situation.

However, as much as it pains me to ever agree with this *******, he is right in this regard.

FSU allowed Leanord Hamilton some lead way to steer the ship in the right direction, but that's basketball. Those wealthy donors dont give a s'hit about basketball.

Football is a different story. Those same donors that paid for his buyout are the same ones that didnt want Willie there in the first place. That is why the former AD made the controversial hire and then immediately bolted afterwards.

X 1000

Luke is a self serving shlt stirrer, but this firing smacks of old south cronyism and humiliation.

What possible difference could firing Willie now, vs waiting a couple of weeks for the season to end?

Race may have had nothing to do with him getting ultimately fired, but the timing of his firing is another matter.

He turned WKU from a doormat to a respectable program.

His USF rebuild culminated into a 10 win season.

Oregon had the #6 recruiting class in Country when He left, before they were in the mid 20's.

IDK what happened at FSU, but the guy had a track record at turning programs around.

Based on articles I've read about the Charlie Strong hire.
strong got 3 full years to put something together and texas never has to search the couch cushions for money to buy a guy out. fsu just axed taggart in less than 2. if criticizing a hire is racist, then canning a guy in half the time is objectively worse.

Willie's one season at a P5 school he barely went .500, didn't beat a single team with a pulse, and didn't just lose but got absolutely blown out by every good team he faced:

Wazzu 10-33
Stanford 49-7
UCLA (who weren't even ranked) 14-31
UDub 3-38

Unless you're really excited by what he did at USF, he actually had no track record to support the FSU hire at all. It was nothing but unsubstantiated hype based on all this smoke and mirrors bullsh-t about what a brilliant offensive mind he was.

this man was paid the second largest buyout of all time, and some cvm dumpster tries to bring race into the equation.
I don't even know why they hired the guy in the first place. He had a fair-to-middlin track record. A school like FSU should have looked for elite...black, white, whatever.

Was he mediocre because he was Black? NO.

The problems we saw at FSU under Willie we're not likely to change had he been given more time to recruit his own players. I don't think Willie could instill the kind of culture at FSU conducive to winning.

Willie might be be too nice a guy. Some of the best coaches are not so nice. They're savages.

I'm glad that Willie walks away with financial security. He's still young and he will be set for life. And he'll get other jobs, maybe as a head coach at a less prestigious college or a well-paid NFL assistantship.

Luke must have thought Trump fired Taggert on the Apprentice.

@CaliFLACane850 no, Luke knows that Trump has been the greatest president for black employment thus the tag of trump. under trump, we have the lowest unemployment EVER...specifically latinos, black, and women broken down in groups.
