UM Ticket Office stupidity

Hopefully, everyone can just settle down and settle in on this issue.

The original poster did not say the Ticket Office was pure concentrated evil, just that they were stupid.

And, sure, his friend could have taken action sooner to preserve his seats.

To me, the issue is simple. WHICH is the easier fix? If there are EIGHT home games, and the tickets are available for SEVEN, simply reach out to the party that purchased the tix for the USF game and tell them a mistake was made, and offer them new seats. Or even upgraded seats.

It's simple customer service. Make more people happy. Might you sacrifice $100 worth of revenue for 2 upgraded single-game tix? Sure. But you satisfy Season Ticket Holder #1, Season Ticket Holder #2, and Single Game Purchaser #1.

Everybody's happy.

Instead, our Ticket Office is doing what it usually does. Standing on ceremony and telling people that they can't do anything.

Happens every year. Sad.

I wouldn't do it either if I worked the ticket office.

Seems like everyone wants a 'favor' these days.
WTF are you talking about "favor"?

He offered to buy two club level season tickets and exclude the USF single game ticket in the seats they already sold and was willing to pay full price for the season (including giving up the USF game).

They also could have easily just sold him the remaining 7 "single game" tickets for the seats he wanted and adjusted the price to the pro-rata season ticket price.

The dopes also missed out on the required Hurricane Club contribution for these seats as well now so don't come crying later about needing to raise more money.

This isn't rocket science.

So, the buddy didn't get season tickets last year for a very good reason but then waited too long this season to get his season tickets. Now he wants the ticket office to jump through hoops for him. Easy solution would have been to buy season tickets sooner...Poor Planning on Your Part Doesn't Constitute an Emergency on My Part (the ticket office in this case), or better yet

Prior Planning Prevents **** Poor Performance

All that is true but you’d think UM would want to build relationships with people, especially ones at the club dollar level. Taking OP at face value the request was reasonable, this is a bad business decision but that’s to be expected.

Wow
🤣 🤣

I think there’s only one way to settle this.

Let your buddy show up and he and the guy that has the seat when he gets there can do battle in a winner takes the seats…..winner can buy the loser a beer in a show of good faith amongst Cane fans…

I found footage ...

So you think its perfectly logical to choose not to sell a season ticket excluding the one game they already sold in favor of taking their chances to sell individual game tickets?

They would have been getting a full season ticket sale AND getting to keep the USF single game they already sold.

You sound like a perfect employee for the ticket office.

Just bump him... airlines do it all the time 🙂

Seems overly rigid by the ticket office. I’ll give you an example.
The 1998 UCLA game. I bought tickets a couple weeks before the game. The seats weren’t all that great. The game was cancelled with a tbd date because of a hurricane. Then a week or so later, when they announced the new game, they wiped out all non season ticket seat positions.
They announced first come first served on a specific date and I jumped in the morning they reopened ticket availability and went from upper deck to lower deck 15th row, close to middle, home side.
So they had flexibility with 1998 software, but couldn't figure out this guys request today with a computer system and software that has to be 100x more advanced?

Seems more like a customer service agent that could have, but didn’t want to take an extra step to accommodate a previous season ticket holder. Just my opinion.

True, on the surface, but how many of these requests are they supposed to accommodate? We've heard about this one, but how many others have contacted them and tried something similar?

From a business standpoint, someone willing to buy season tickets should always take priority over a single game holder.
As someone mentioned, the airlines do this daily.
Bump the guy with the single game to an equivalent or better seat, then everyone is happy or assumedly so.

They should accommodate any reasonable request ... especially when it requires donations to the Hurricane Club. UM isn't the GB Packers with a 30 year waitlist for season tickets.

Again, this isn't rocket science.

The seats are available for 7 of the 8 games which leads to another question ... why the **** would they allow premium seats to be purchased for a single low value game vs USF?

This 100%. Also, sports team do this type of stuff all the time and not just for individual seats but also suites.

What your buddy wants is a tailored season ticket package. If that was permissible, what's stopping someone else from saying they want season ticket rates but only for UF and ND and don't want any of the other games? I can see why UM doesn't offer this. It's a slippery slope. Short of season tickets and individual games, UM usually does their ticket packages for a few games but your buddy wants his own bespoke treatment.

I see both sides to why this is/shouldn’t happen. It’s the principle of the issue for me. If you want asses in those seats, you find a way to get those tickets sold to a paying customer. Yea, I’m sure the system wouldn’t like tinkering like that and it would likely require someone with some more knowledge to allow for what he’s requesting. But it’s just how things in this country are. Never easy and just how it is. If my *** is in the jackpot for making money from sports, I would find a way to sell the tickets at the season ticket price. But what can ya do
